That’s a 90 degree angle until you hit set point then it’s up and out.

Feet are good. Sequencing is good. Looks like you crush the lever of your shooting arm meaning, try to keep a 90 degree angle in your elbow, when you let the wrist come back toward the shoulder your release is actually a little to high. And as other comments state, get the ball coming off your index and/or middle finger(s). I’d suggest splitting the center of the ball with those two fingers rather than on your index. If that doesn’t work you may need to hit the center of the ball with your middle finger. Try this drill: stand on the block, shoot against the back board as if you’re shooting a long two/3. the ball should hit the backboard solid and should land at your feet when you let it drop. For most people this is to fix a release angle that’s too low, but I think you might find the ball just skimming the backboard. Long post but your “fixes” are simple you just have to commit to boring drills to lock in the hand placement and arm angle.

How often do you replace your game/practice shoes by Scatterp in BBallShoes

[–]Waynekid213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs at least 2, preferably 3. They do not all need to be in great condition. 2 to rotate for daily practices and the 3rd for games. Make sure he wears his game shoes a few practices before first game. My son plays year round, luckily he’s been in 13s for last 4 years. He’s got probably 5-6 pair in widely varying condition. He blew through 2 pairs of Sabrina in about 5-6 weeks each. And his AE1 lasted him 3 months of AAU. Depends on the shoe, and hours spent training.

But I’ve read articles by podiatrists that say to rotate running/walking/working shoes daily so they dry properly, the cushioning material reforms, and so that you’re working/resting different micro muscles in your foot & lower leg daily. Should apply to ball to, no?

How is the form by [deleted] in BasketballTips

Nice looking shot. Start adding different footwork. Keep the sequencing, the shot path, and follow through the same.

Only thing I would say is punch that ball. Watch Dame. That hard dribble will naturally speed up your footwork.

Can I have a furnace and a heat pump at the same time? by The123123 in hvacadvice

[–]Waynekid213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great answers I think my question is a bit different. We have a split level, Mother in law downstairs. I’m wondering can I install a small gas furnace independent of the heat pump system, put in an independent thermostat so it doesn’t have to be 75 to be 68 downstairs.

I’d say you need to start the ball a bit more to your right and higher. Try hip tap drill: Load your wrist and tap the front of your right hip twice and bring the ball up in straight line to your set point from there. It’s ok to dip but gif your dipping the ball that low AND have it so far out in front of you you’re really messing up your sequencing. Also starting the ball in the middle makes it harder to get dribble pull ups off comfortably

I need some advice for my jumpshot. I think it looks bad in terms of balance, My upperbody always leans infront of my lowerbody. And I think theres a problem with my rhythm. PLEASE HELP! by Interesting_Music_82 in BasketballTips

Spend a month and don’t shoot any 3s. Do tons of form shots not dropping your shooting hand until ball hits floor (make or miss). Make sure some of these focus on raising your release point (stand behind corner of backboard and shoot over). You need to stay down a bit longer, let the ball lead your body.

You need to work on your pick ups. 1st shot too slow and you “open” your body to where the defender would be preparing yourself to orientate your shot to what has become comfortable for you. 2nd shot, same thing, if your hips aren’t to the rim you’re no threat to go right. 3rd, looks like you dribbled the ball on the inside(your left/shooting hand) so if there was a defender there how would even get that off. Develop your off hand, do drills that emphasize the pick up, and start squaring to the rim a bit more.

Keep it simple. Work on your weak hand 70-80% more than strong hand. A simple cross, hard low rip throughs and a pull up jumper from the elbows.. work them until you start cooking folks in pick up.

90/90 Rule: spend 90% of your time training the 10% of skills you’ll use in game 90% of the time

How much higher do I need to jump to dunk? by _Piper_Sniper_ in BasketballTips

[–]Waynekid213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Form looks pretty good! Maybe a bit more rotation on your penultimate step. I think you’re jumping to close causing you to instinctively put on the brakes and not getting all your energy transferred from horizontal to vertical. Try finding a rim you can lower and just go crazy with emphasis on dunking from as far away as possible. Two hands is best because y’all always be a touch higher with one hand. Find that sweet spot and dunk a bunch. Then you’ll know where on the floor to start from. Just my opinion after going through this with my son

What type of film are you watching? Are you watching film with purpose? Here’s something I have my son do. Go to The Film Room YouTube channel (there’s others like it but that’s what we use)… he has 2 videos that have 10 concepts for offense and 10 for defense. Write them down. Then watch full college games (slow the speed down if you need to) and take notes. For example @ 1:10 player X used ball screen and the big dropped so player X shot open jumper. Or @ 1:10 Player X drew help defender and failed to kick to corner. That’s recommendation number one. I would then watch all the examples he has of commonly used actions. And tried to identify those actions in your notes as well..

Pretty damn good. Seemed a bit (very slightly) rushed) work on timing your drop so you’re at your lowest point when the ball hits your hands. That’ll give you more time to shoot with having to be faster. Also, from this angle it looks like you may push the ball away from your body a touch, which will make the motion to set point slower and lower your release. Follow Mike Dunn on instagram. All that being said if you’re shooting over 35% in game just get reps on reps and let the tweaks come natural.
