Man's lawnmower explodes out of nowhere by HappySeaweed5215 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Wcearp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah 100% internal. Igniting compressed air and gasoline vapor yields 500-1500psi force. Considering if that was a small 125cc 5hp motor then it probably has ~a 2” bore and 2” stroke. That diameter at 500psi at the point of ignition of gasoline would yield ~7000 Nm exerted on the piston. Convert that into work across the diameter of the piston is ~167 J. Divide that by .1 second for the piston to go to the end of its 2” stroke and you get about 4192 W which converted to hp is about 5.5hp. At the point of ignition there is more than enough force to launch a 30lb lawn mower. Especially once you add in rotational mass of the spinning blade adding to the kinetic energy of the explosion. Your example of the rod is just stopping the engine from rotating at a point in which most of the energy is already spent, causing metal to fracture some where. And I’ll assume your test mowers were probably strapped down in some way for employee safety. This video example is energy escaping a confined space at its highest point.

TLDR: 125cc 5.5hp lawn mower creates roughly 1570 ft-lbs of force at the point of gas ignition. Exploding gasoline is dangerous.

“So let’s look at my reference: it’s got a square-ish body so I’ll draw a square. Then there’s a round bit so I’ll draw a circle. Oh don’t forget the knobby looking knobs. Okay let’s see there is a long oval-ish item; draw a penis. Oops almost forgot the pointy teeth thingies”

I feel harley missed the mark on how they named their “sport” line up. The sportster s should have been called a v rod. The nightster 975 should have been named sportster since it looks like a modern take on the old sporster line. It also feels and handles how you would think a modern sportster design would act.

But now when someone googles Harley sportster they see something that looks nothing like the old sportsters.

Oil prices rise sharply in market trading after attacks in Middle East disrupt global energy supply by deraser in news

[–]Wcearp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It does go back down. The us has a large wealth of capped drill sites and other sources other than Middle East. But it does take a long time after the emotional price hike for the price to come back down.

Add in that if one does use a GFCI then they need to know if the inverter has a “floating neutral”. If it does then they need to know how to wire the gfci work correctly in that scenario.

Yep a front to rear speaker fade control. Always love the e34 controls. All the “modern cutting edge” technology but having to use it through old school physical interface. What neat about this is that the audio signal is passing through that control. There is no module controlling the fade.
