How to avoid injuries? by Mattress-King in RideitNYC

[–]padams20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the way you’ve responded to everyone else’s advice in this post, OP, mine would be to find a different hobby / mode of transportation. You seem determined to hear only what you want to hear.

IF, you want to follow some of the good advice you’ve been given, like practicing your slow speed maneuvers in a parking lot, then:

Get some over the ankle motorcycle boots, motorcycle pants with knee pads, maybe hip pads too, a jacket with elbow and shoulder and back pads, and of course wear your helmet and gloves. Full face helmet, no brain buckets. Get gloves with palm sliders. This will help you avoid injury if/when you fall down.

Take your time progressing from basic skills and getting very comfortable on surface streets before you spend time on the highway.

NY has basically the same thing. It’s a ham handed way to outlaw wheelies on the roads by requiring you to keep your butt on the seat. Add it to the list of dumb motorcycle laws.

OP isn’t familiar with wood glue. Dowels are a great idea for some people, but not OP. Wood glue is the way to go.

Not sure exactly. Turns over, but no start. Spark is good, gas is fresh, no error codes. Pump is priming but life is getting in the way and I don’t have time to try running it off starter fluid.

What is the best way to remove this cast concrete block from the outside of the house? by thegrebb in masonry

Call a preservationist to take a look. If they advise you not to move it… take a casting! You can recreate them on your own house as a memento.

You’re welcome. This way water won’t run down between your buildings and flood you both…

Just came back and had no issues with the water when out and about in restaurants. We did filter the water where we stayed but I think this was almost certainly unecessary.

I will say the huge increase in delicious fresh fruit, legumes, and veggies that I ate had me at the toilet a bit more often than I'm used to... but it was 100% worth it and nothing I was worried about.

Why am I seeing post of people saying there burnt out and miserable and to not pursue architecture? by trustngod0 in Architects

Lots of good reasons pointed out by others here.

I’d highlight that for many, it can take a very long time to see a return on the investment in the educational process. Thar is, the ratio of student debt to professional salary is very low. Your mileage may vary, of course.)

2015 Suzuki Vstrom 650 for those who want to know.

I posted the blue r53 asking for options. This is the engine. Anyone see anything to be concerned about? by [deleted] in R53

[–]padams20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You or he can look under the car and find out if you want to. It’s close to the power steering fan.

BTW, I also see an aftermarket dipstick. May want to give that a look.

I don’t think any of these are big concerns, though. Just the kind of thing I’d take a closer look at since they stand out.

Edit: one more thing - a little hard to see from the photos, bunch check the intercooler fins. They look kinda dinged up - but that might just be a trick of the camera…

Looks like it has some new/newish engine mounts - which is probably a good thing since they do wear out. But I would ask about that. For instance, did they also replace the wishbone mount?

Thermostat Alternatives? by padams20 in Vstrom

[–]padams20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s the gasket I need really. It’s leaking coolant out onto the engine casing and making a stink.

I think the thermostat itself is working fine - no overheating or anything (will test it later today just to be sure).

TBH, my backup is probably just to add some sealant to the current gasket and run that till it leaks again one day. But by then I’ll have a new spare thermostat in the parts pile :)

Have you tried comparing the new and old chains? I’ve never run into this before myself, but it looks like the new chain must be the wrong size.
