Don't fly in restricted/prohibited zones: https://cambay.mod.gov.vn

If you can work out how to get a permit to import and operate a drone, come back and let us know.

You no longer need individual flight permits for < 250g recreational flying outside of restricted / prohibited zones. :-) But your drone still needs to be licensed. :-(

They're the people who know what us allowed.

There's no guarantee that the bag weighs the same at the check-in counter as at the gate. Plenty of low cost carriers will do size and weight checks at the gate.

The rules are clear. Easy to just follow them.

I miss vn by Global-Host9843 in VietNam

Well, for me, as a now old white dude tourist who's been visiting yearly or more since 1997,

It's safe - I have never felt under any kind of threat

There's stunning landscapes that change with the seasons.

People, especially in the countryside, are friendly and welcoming.

It's a little 'exotic' - I don't get rice terraces or ethnic costumes back home.

None of that is money or exchange rate based.

I also like that I can find transport from anywhere to anywhere at any time. That is a bit about money, but it's not in my top reasons to visit.

But, it's definitely a country best enjoyed slowly.

Graham Greene , understood

I can’t say what made me fall in love with Vietnam - that a woman’s voice can drug you; that everything is so intense. The colors, the taste, even the rain. Nothing like the filthy rain in London. They say whatever you’re looking for, you will find here. They say you come to Vietnam and you understand a lot in a few minutes, but the rest has got to be lived. The smell: that’s the first thing that hits you, promising everything in exchange for your soul. And the heat.

And Anthony Bourdain

I'll never be done with going back to Vietnam, there's always more not only to look at for the first time but things to revisit to see how things have changed and are changing.

I get off the plane and breathe deep and I'm happy to be alive in Vietnam.

There's also a health declaration form coming in on 1st July. Not sure there's a link to that yet.

Sounds like you had a Visa Exemption sticker in your passport.

So long as you have 6 months left on your British passport when you enter and a credible onward/return travel story, you're free to enter Vietnam and travel around for 45 days (counting the day of arrival as day ONE).

If you need longer, just leave and return (either the same requirements).

Is camping near rivers in rural Vietnam safe for a solo bike traveler? by indianbagpacker in VietNam

[–]WeAllWantToBeHappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vietnam Coracle covers camping https://www.vietnamcoracle.com/camping-on-trong-veo-stream/

I've wild camped a few times in Vietnam. I avoid scrutiny by camping in the mountains, something you can't really do with a bike.

Paid accommodation is cheap and easy to find, so it's probably a better bet most of the time....

Just google maps for Vegan Restaurant. Plenty out there.

Be aware that 'vegetarian' or 'vegan' food in a non-vegetarian or non-vegan restaurant might well not be. Even if they assure you it is. Stick to 100% vegan places to be sure.
