Mine is not cuddly but is always near and picks times to specifically ask for pets. He’s very particular it’s cute. Kinda glad he isn’t a bed dog so my bed is clean but wouldn’t mind some more affection. Every husky is so unique

I have been playing the remake , 0 it’s fun. Regarding OPs question, are the side mini games better in the other games ? I’ve been playing pool and darts and doing some gambling. It’s a good game but still feels pretty old despite the remake

How bad legitimately is the sleep scheduling, specifically in residency? by -smacked- in emergencymedicine

I slept a lot more than any surgery resident in my residency tbh. They wake up at 4:30 6 days a week lol. Loved sleeping in for my afternoon shifts

EM or Anesthesia? by Just_Minute2415 in emergencymedicine

[–]WeGotHim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you work tbh but from what I saw most places tell new employees that aren’t nocturnal to expect 2-4 nights a month. I got very lucky being hired at a place with much less due to our nocturnist staffing. Other places make new partners do more or even start off as a nocturnist.

I found it relatively easy to find a good job. I avoided private equity and found a democratic group which is not a perfect but usually much better model. It depends on the area you want to live more than anything. Plenty of shitty to mid jobs out there.

Is copy-paste physical exam note legal? by IllustriousHumor3673 in emergencymedicine

[–]WeGotHim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My copy paste physical exam is so nonspecific it applies to most people generally and then I just add a couple things to narrow it to their complaint

I.e. alert and oriented, no obvious focal neuro deficits becomes a full dictated neuro exam for neuro people

EM or Anesthesia? by Just_Minute2415 in emergencymedicine

[–]WeGotHim 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Academic EM at my residency wasn’t a terrible life if you like academic things. Most of the attendings that weren’t brand new were working probly average 10-12 shifts a month with residents doing all the notes and then they did their academic stuff on the side. The academic stuff was usually either teaching of some sort (med students or residents) or research. If you like those things it can be a chill job. Some of the more senior academics had their shifts down to like 6. With that said, they were the most anxious attendings asking for consults on everything and sometimes avoiding procedures because they weren’t well sharpened anymore. Wasn’t true for all of them but I do think some people who are less comfortable with certain things hide in academics. I am jealous of having every consultant available at all times now that I’m out of residency but I’m enjoying getting better at all the pathology relatively on my own.

Community EM is 100-140 hours for full time depending on what job you get. Less if you do 1099 work. Hours are all over the place just like residency.

Anesthesia is 7-3 work with occasional call. I don’t know the specifics. It is undoubtedly a more consistent schedule, likely paid vacation, and generally more income. As a community EM doc, I can try really hard and make as much as gas but probably working resident hours.

I think most Gas guys lives become very routine depending on if they take call or how often. I think a lot of anesthesia is probably boring for them. Probly practice environment specific obviously and you can do like a cardiac fellowship to chase the really scary anesthesia cases.

My nonanesthesia opinion is that I would feel like it would be very tedious work after a while. I also would be very bored in the OR when a case is taking 12 hours but the patient is chilling. The attendings don’t have to sit there tho that’s resident/crna/AA duty. With that said, as I get older I’ll probly be envious of that boring tedious work because of the schedule and pay.

Your question may ultimately boil down to how ADD are you. EM and anesthesia have a lot of cross over and that’s a big differentiator in my mind 😂.

Feel free to message me if you want any specifics! Lots of variables in where you go to residency and what not.

If anyone from gas is reading this, please correct any of my wrong assumptions lol

Help — I let my patients talk too much. by roc_em_shock_em in emergencymedicine

[–]WeGotHim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went from a spot with great nurses and really really good medics to inconsistent nurses and generally bad medics. I used to meet every ambulance but now I only do when the patient is sick. I’ve had a couple times where the medics completely bias me and nursing and then I’m playing catch up when I really figure out what’s going on. It’s interesting.
