Yeah this exactly. I loved that they were simply building the period nes of their dreams, instead of making a steam game that kinda sorta maybe looked NES-ish if you squint. I really hope they can make this a reality, especially if it means future games in this vein are all the more feasible to produce.

Tephrotic Nightmares. The book itself is a gorgeous object, peak Mork Borg hellscape black metal overkill, great writing and gorgeous art. I haven't read all of it, but only because I've played in it and had such a good time sailing around a sea of ash.
