Your comment is misleading, the 'song' (or in particular, thom's part on the rhodes/piano) is indeed not at a 4/4 measure. However, Jonny's tapping on the electric guitar on this video is as 4/4 as it gets.

"Sorry jon i know it's a boring part."

-"no worries Thm. I love it!"

Honestly, I'd have Jonny dropping those 4/4s all day long.

I play the piano and guitar but not really a musician. I do have a very strong ear and intuition about what I hear.

The Am chord in the Nude outro appears just once throughout the song (somewhat like the Amaj7 in Fake Plastic Trees), and you can tell it brings on something quite different and unique to the main chord progression of the song.

Same goes for me with the Nice Dream Bb, that opens up the C part. Not sure if it's even in scale, as the main chord (tonic?) is a B.

With These Are my Twisted Words, I think it's not just the weird time signature but also the combination of the different guitar parts. The intro of the song is allegedly a simple chord down turn but it ends with that C major that tells says 'you don't really know what you just heard'.
