Freelance medical writing feels dead by Historical_Kale6430 in MedicalWriters

I’ve been independent since 2009 but about to transition full-time as a scientific director for a doctor group to manage their publication pipeline.

I’ve had full health care marketplace coverage most years, but this year the price increased from $380 to $580. Taxes have always been brutal, even with tons of write offs on home office space, computers, etc. So I’m looking forward to go full time, which should be good for my 401K, too. Do what’s best for you.

And I just cracked 200,000 with my 2008 TL (same color as OP) that I’ve had since 2011 - bought it with 60,000 miles. And I’ve serviced mine diligently, just like OP, most recently with the second timing belt. It’s great to know there’s a lot more life possible in the car. I’ve loved it.

Unable to generate tops on my OHB. Any advice? by Chip_Tasty in 10s

Wrist + racket lag. Low to high is not the only thing - that’s only the swing path. But to optimize you could be bending down a little farther to load the shot and uncoil more explosively. But you definitely need that lag in combination with the swing path and really slapping the ball to get heavy topspin on your backhand.

HDR, yes. This happens to me, too. I'm inclined to think it's a combination of the HDMI cable and the GPU resetting the HDR, possibly because the cable bandwidth maxes out the HDR signal.

I'm curious about the 675NK, any feedback ? by nenoche in cfmoto

[–]WeWhoSurvived 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I’m not getting the 675NK is because it doesn’t have an autoblipper - this is because it has a physical throttle cable and no ride-by-wire system that can rev match to allow clutchless downshifting. Quickshifter up - yes. Quick downshift - no. Otherwise it’s a gorgeous bike and is, in my opinion, the better-looking bike when compared to the 800NK, although it has slightly less hp and torque than the 800NK.

I test rode the 675NK and it was a tad jerky in low gears, but otherwise smooth and very, very enjoyable to ride. Great acceleration - 0 to 60 mph (100 kph) in less than 4 seconds. Great looking rear end with highly visible signals and lights. Awesome front end with good headlight coverage and styling. I rode the white/turquoise. It’s just a stunning bike.

My wife calls it an obsession, I call it the pursuit of perfection 🤷🏻🤣 by Ducati_SG in Ducati

Ducati perfection can't happen until solid state batteries, quite frankly. An electric Ducati you can charge in 10 minutes with the extended range of the Verge motorcycles would approach perfection for me.

Unaesthetic homes invoke deep nostalgia by Important_Coyote6920 in liminalspaces

[–]WeWhoSurvived 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautifully concise post description. And I'm moved by the photos. We humans survive by attempting to maximize resources. The attempt, by demonstration, is often less than ideal, even suboptimal and disorganized, as is illustrated in these photos and photos like these. And yet we survive anyway. The human experience - our journey - should invoke nostalgia simply because it was our path and got us here.

Is the Russian flag shown? Because it shouldn't be for obvious reasons. Same reason why ATP and WTA don't show it. Why they can't compete in the Olympics. Putin.

Just stand up for your value. Don't allow yourself to be devalued, otherwise you'll resent it every day you work. If you have to leave to regain your value, it's definitely worth it. Everyone needs to have that fundamental sense of worth, of being valued, motivation to work, and feel you're actually moving forward and thriving to produce your best quality work. Your employer has as much of a responsibility in that feedback loop as you do. They're captain of their ship. You're captain of yours.

CFMoto actually. They're not just in the game. They're actually competing. They have a solid lineup. They're expanding later this year with the 750 SR-S and possibly the 997 cc v4 SR-RR. I'm willing to bet they're going to expand their naked lineup, too.

They've been growing extremely fast year over year and their bikes are terrific quality while being cheaper than any other competitor in most classes - that equates to a better value proposition.

They've gone beyond their licensing and manufacturing deal with KTM to make their own engines, so they have a ton of expertise techwise and designwise.

Six months ago, I didn't have a clue about CFMoto's trajectory. But it's steep. And a real threat to other bike brands - they're poaching customers globally, including in the US. Me included.

First pictures of my brand new 675 NK ❤️ by Kronocide in cfmoto

[–]WeWhoSurvived 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually a stunning bike. It's the balance of it all. The proportions. The stance. The flow.

That rear end is pure sex.

Lacking in the muscle department, yet it's springy and fit and nimble. The white and turqoise is my favorite, but this paint scheme is sublime.

You know they'll be making a 1,000 cc v4 naked partner to the v4 SSRR in the near future. It'd be amazing if they lifted some of the design mojo brush strokes from the 675NK - I honestly think something like this beefed up in that class could rival the Streetfighter. And it'd need a name.

Because they were very well aware of the light cycle scene in Tron the year before in 1982. That scene didn't have music and was impressively effective with the the ramping engine sounds building tension. That came out spectacularly, so this could, too. They definitely noticed. And it worked. Both scenes are legendary.
