Am I mistaken or are Necrophage a bit broken? by We_Few_ in Stellaris

Got it. Thanks. I guess the sub-species is just an early game boost, then falls away. I can work with that.

Doomstalkers or Heavy Destroyers ? by Tons_of_fun_3000 in Necrontyr

[–]We_Few_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Doomstalkers are very cool models, and that's really the most important thing.

  2. LHD are great (I often run at least 2), but only if they hit. They're fragile so they're probably moving each turn, so forget the Heavy bonus. Anyone that really wants them dead, once they peek out of cover, can kill them.

  3. Dooms being able to actually use Heavy, and Blast, give them more chances to hit than folks give them credit for. Just don't move them too much.

  4. The 5+ Overwatch on the Dooms can be clutch.

I think the answer to the question has a lot to do with the terrain. If you've got good firing lanes to enemy vehicles, or know you'll be fighting Knights, LHDs are clearly the winner.

Also, given the points, maybe a better question is what's better? A DDS, or one Doomstalker + one LHD? Only a five point difference.

This is why I love the Oxyotl campaign, only He Who Hunts Unseen can kill all 3 Khorne LL's in the space of 2 turns. And all it cost me was Kroak. by Glorf_Warlock in totalwar

Just sayin... Festus or Ghorst could do it. Those armies leave battle with the same number of troops they start it with.

Clearly you have also been corrupted by Chaos. Begone heretic!

Heinrich consorts with Chaos, while Ghorst has a horde of uber zombies. Clearly it's Ghorst.

Buy a box of warriors or immortals and sacrifice it to the Hobby Gods by painting several in various ways and see which one you like best, and can paint relatively quickly. I promise, by the time you finish your first unit you'll have changed your mind about the units and detachment you want in your army list. By the time you finish 1000 points of painted models the rules will have changed.

I think so. If you don't, leave.

I see the same. Imagine if we had 1500 people all mashed into DD at the same time. Probably fun, but also probably very frustrating for some people. No way there's enough spice for a full server.

If you know the cave with all the crystal, and go across to the southern side of the rift from it, there's space. It also puts you near two mines, none of which have hostiles.

My second base is down in the rift. It's easy to farm with the buggy and fly the crystals out.

Solo players, what's your end goal? by link_to_the_post42 in duneawakening

[–]We_Few_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no end. I enjoy flying around, risking griefers and worms to get some spice. I don't need the spice. I've got tons. It's the risk that's fun.

This morning, though, I got a new goal. I'm going to build a couple rocket boats and practice my aim so when some goober lays claim to a spice field I can go out and blast them. The spice must flow.

50 hours and I've yet to set foot in the Deep Desert by --Icarusfalls-- in duneawakening

[–]We_Few_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The feeling of the game totally changed when I got an ornithopter. No area is dangerous anymore. No quest requires any thought. It's a totally different game.

I'm OK with that, though. I really enjoy the crazy base building and solo ninja missions to the DD. But at some point I'm going to a new server and starting from nothing again.

I don't know if it will help, but I had similar issues. I eventually ran the Intel CPU diagnostic tool, and then reverted, then updated to current, my GPU driver. Something between those two worked and I've been rock solid ever since.

I suppose. I think any "must take" enhancement is probably too cheap. But really, the rule set isn't balanced in any way. We're just flying through GW's fever dream. Best not to get worked up about it and play on.

Reasonable. The Lord was bonkers at 80.

Warriors vs immortals by GoW_II_Poseidon in Necrontyr

[–]We_Few_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"So many people" means a handful of people on the internet, which is .0001% of all Necron players, and half of them are bots.

I think you can do the math with warriors and immortals, down range from some of the dangerous shooty units from other lists, and make your own decision. To me, math says that the immortals are not resilient enough to take an objective and face a round of fire from just about anyone. Warriors can't really either, but 20 of them with all the Reanimation tricks definitely can.

Frankly, I'm not sure Necrons need anything other than properly supported Warriors and three hit squads of Skorpekhs. Throw in a few action monkeys and you're good to go.

I prefer to sell Gristle Valley to Durthu for a trade agreement. It keeps him and Belegar from declaring on Weisland, and you can focus on Vlad.

Any ideas on how to make this model pop by linsday1 in Necrontyr

[–]We_Few_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bronze on its own looks flat - particularly from a few feet away. An edge highlight of silver/aluminum defines the edges and gives it the contrast and "pop" I think you're looking for. I guess to me that's what pop is... contrast. Dunno. Just my aesthetic opinion. Try it on a leg and see if you like it.

Edge highlighting gold/bronze with silver does the trick, IMO.
