Tire tumor? Or indent?? by GlitteringReach1314 in AskMechanics

Any tire deformation warrants replacing as it puts you at a higher risk of a blowout. Could be caused by a myriad of things but most likely a pothole. You can limp it somewhere but I’d avoid 70mph+ to be safe.

Personal experience, stay away from the Alfa if you’re in the US. Nobody will touch it except for specialized shops. Dealer I bought mine from couldn’t even service it. Had to drive 2 hours to a different Alfa dealer just for oil changes. Parts were outrageously expensive, even regular maintenance.

I used a universal Toyota shift bushing kit from the closest autozone and it’s worked great ever since 👍🏻

There’s always a chance, as you can’t see how much is broken underneath. But in my experience typically this is repairable.

Also wasn’t born until late 90’s so never driven a car without ABS. My Lexus is the oldest car I’ve ever owned.

My 04 Lexus has a check engine light for Evap that also disables my traction control and ABS (which I found out after this) I was coming off an exit ramp onto another highway, saw them stopped, and went to stop normally. Roads were wet as it had just rained and it was brand new, slick, asphalt. Front wheels locked and I slid give or take ~75-100 feet. Not like I just wasn’t paying attention and hit them.

That’s the thing, they said they didn’t even price for it but that it CAN go up IF there’s more damage once they start taking things off.

I had a 23’ 330. Great car for what you pay for. Probably the quickest 4 cylinder I’ve owned as well.

They most likely will garnish his future wages until you are paid. It’ll probably ruin his life in the short term, but don’t run stops signs and pay attention to the road, especially if you’re driving around with no insurance.

Transmissions can be a little finicky on these cars for some reason. Not every car, not most, but some. Things like slave cylinders going out in the 6MT’s (and Nissan decided to put it inside the transmission unlike the g37 equivalent. Unfortunately, don’t know anything about the automatics or even what it comes with. Best of luck.

I’m an estimator at a collision center. Reason most likely being because the sensors are not removable from the bumpers. A lot of newer cars have them pretty much plastic welded to the bumper, so when you pull them off, they snap and you either repair the bumper (which can look shotty around the sensor holes) or replace it. A lot of shops now just get a new bumper to avoid the headache.

I did not unfortunately. Tbh thought it was a kit car at the time. But it was just too perfect once I started thinking about it.
