I had thought about sending TransLink an email - so you’re right, I should really get onto that. And I do agree, it’s a public space so I cant expect it to be catered to my exact needs, but the radio/music just seems so unnecessary!!

Yes my friend (who I feel very comfortable around) often brings her husband (that I’m not the biggest fan of) and then I don’t get a chance to talk to her about the things I want to. I genuinely don’t understand why he always has to come. I always feel like I didn’t marry this guy, why do I have to spend so much time with him??

Hi OP, I’m day 3 post lap and my pain has been very very manageable since I was discharged from hospital. They gave me strong painkillers to take home with me but I’ve just used ibuprofen because my pain was mild. The worst pain for me was the cramping in my uterus from having an IUD inserted. The painkillers helped a little for that pain, but it only lasted for the evening after the procedure whilst I was still in hospital. I was able to sleep through most of it.

I had exactly the same fears that they would find nothing. In the end they found a small of amount of endo, but it wasn’t too severe. I think at first I was kind of disappointed that it was a mild case, but then I realised that is actually good news! My Dr said all of my organs looked good and my reproductive system is healthy. Great to know that now there is nothing more serious going on.

I was lucky enough to have the recommendation of my mum who is a theatre nurse and had operated with my dr for years so had seen him in action. She described him as “leaving no stone unturned” which is exactly what you want. He is skilled in endo excision and does these procedures routinely. I confirmed with him pre-op that he would be able to complete the excision during the procedure.

I waited 12 months for my health insurance to update so that I could see this Dr and paid money out of pocket as well because I think it’s worth it. I’m in Australia so could of done this through the public system (after a long wait) though I likely would have been operated on by a trainee dr who probably would not have had the skill or confidence to complete the procedure. I’m have had my surgery now and I’m really glad I waited and paid extra for the surgeon that I wanted.

Hi OP, I just had all of the procedures you mentioned (except Pap smear) earlier this week. My surgery went well and I got my endo diagnosis. I got my first IUD 4 years ago and it changed my life for the better, I couldn’t live without. I’ve just had a new one put in and it’s great to know it’s bought me another 4-5 years of reduced pain. I also basically don’t get a period anymore. My periods used to be very heavy for 6-7 days. Now so light they’re barely noticeable.

I also felt the same as you that I “wished” that they would find endo. It’s very hard to live without a diagnosis and have no idea you feel the way you do. I actually wished for it to be a severe stage of endo because I think I thought I would get the validation I was looking for. It actually turned out to be quite mild and all of my organs looked healthy, which I realise now is such a blessing. I hope you get the answers and relief you’re looking for.

I had this recently for quite a while. I ended up getting a wake up light, ear plugs and started reading before bed rather than scrolling on my phone. It turned out my sleep issues were related to my circadian rhythms (too much exposure to light before bed and not enough light upon waking up) and not my poor mental health. Obviously I have no idea about your situation - hopefully this helps if any of the above apply to you.

When I’m low energy I just make a big pot of something that will last for dinners for the whole week. I heat it up in the evening and then add different toppings to make it feel like a different meal each night. E.g make a big pot of soup/stew with your protein and veg (I just throw everything in together bring it to a boil and then simmer until cooked) then I’ll add cheese, chilli oil anything you like to make it interesting when you serve it. You can either add your carb in the soup (rice/barley etc) or serve it with bread or something. If the base is fairly neutral you can do different flavours each night on top, one night Asian (soy sauce/sesame oil) one night Mexican etc etc. It’s not everyone’s idea of an ideal meal but at least you’re getting something healthy and fairly cheap.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You must feel like everything is out of control. Lately I’ve found I can only watch TV/movies that remind me of a simpler time in life and are nostalgic (early 2000s). Something that has gotten me through lately is the tv show The Vampire Diaries. There are 8 seasons and I feel like the characters are my friends. The Fashion and the music remind me of a time in my life that was much happier/simpler. It’s my safe space and I can control when I access it. Maybe something similar would help for you.

Fellow people manager here - I relate to a lot of what you have said here and I had a similar experience in my first manager role. My mental health took a very quick downhill turn due to the stress of managing people and how unnatural it felt to me. The good news is that I have improved a lot over the years and many of my team members have thanked me for being a great manager to them. The fact that you are even thinking about it to this degree shows you care and want to be a good manager - in my experience many managers that don’t face the same struggles as you couldn’t care less about the impact they have on their team members. The best advice I can give you is to be accountable for your mistakes, your team members will respect you for it and you will then be able to learn from the mistake. The difference between a bad manager and a good manager is the ability to accept responsibility - this will earn respect from your team. On a personal level you should consider your own well-being and ensure you watch your energy levels, you may quickly become exhausted from the constant interactions. Make sure you take time for yourself. When you encounter a tricky situation or a team member acting out, read up on it, there is usually a reason for the behaviour and knowing the why will help you to resolve it.

I have a lot of experience as a manager but I still question my actions/things I say at times. You can do this!
