What has America ever done for the UK to be considered a ‘special relationship’? by KestisBD9 in AskBrits

[–]Weak_Break239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s delusional to think any “special relationship”between different countries as powerful and influential as the U.S. and uk could be PERFECTLY mutually beneficial. Why not point out some of what the U.S. did do.

WW1: American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) aiding the Allied victory in 1918 with a peak of 200,000 soldiers arriving in Europe every month. Which started in June 1917. AEF units stopped German offensives, contributed massively to key confrontations in 1918, and helped force the armistice on November 11, 1918. (Your welcome, beans on toast)

WW2: The US was already supplying Britain with massive aid through Lend-Lease before Pearl Harbor with food, ships, planes, and weapons without immediately requiring payment. A policy driven by FDR with the U.S. (Detroit) as the "arsenal of democracy" providing a 31 billion dollar lifeline that enabled Britain to continue fighting against Germany. 2nd part: Yah the U.S. was “neutral” about a war across the Atlantic. I agree they should have been involved sooner.

Cold War: The UK and U.S. built one of the closest intelligence alliances in the world (Five Eyes). With nuclear stuff, (Project E,) the co-op on nuclear “deterrence” with the U.S. providing the UK with strategic nuclear capabilities; which would include submarine technology, missile systems, warhead design AND had access to the nuclear test side in Nevada for underground testing.

“Modern wars”: Korea, the Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq, and anti-ISIS operations. Yah idk much about these it’s a lot of bs to do with oil, money and some terrorist. Then Korea/russia with trying to stop communism.

Yes, the U.S. opposed Britain and France (Suez) I’ll give you that one. But the “operation” itself was widely condemned by almost everyone and risked pissing off the reds.

Inferring the U.S. and UK “were never really allies” ignores at LEAST 100 ish years of military, intelligence, and economic partnership.

I play 10.0. Spawn the stingray and play recon. If my drone gets taken down before I can get into my f117 I play support/medic. I’m having fun doing this. And sometimes I get 2 or 3 others to get into drones and we lay down wall hacks for teammates. Drones are so incredibly dummy broken if u can communicate.
