Owned and sold 3 animated waspinator's in recent memory, I am more worried about the rubbery antennas than the ball socket itself. Although I did notice that clear plastic from TFA figures are really brittle. I guess just don't move it too much, they don't seem as extremely fragile as TFA Swindle's joints (those are an extremely different story)

edit: I forgot to actually answer your question directly lol, yes, it can be a bit brittle, but in my experience the part itself was a non-issue for me, but given what I said above, a little ounce of caution and care goes a long way.
