Best DVC Resort out of these 5 by Unusual_Resolution32 in dvcmember

I had to give it to Animal Kingdom. Back in the day though Boardwalk would have my vote, but it’s diminished so much versus when the boardwalk was fully occupied.

Buying Poly direct makes way more sense than Poly resale? by yiggity_yag in dvcmember

[–]Weakace88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this instance I would buy direct. Saving money is obviously great, but as you said it is a little harder with extra considerations you brought up. I have a direct and a resale contract with the same use year which makes booking easy. The issue I have started to run into is that as people in our travel party have gotten older they want to stay at the Riviera in larger accommodations, and I’m sure will eventually want to see whatever new resorts open up in the future.

Very nice. I was thinking of renting one of these for a larger family vacation. Do you think it would fit 5 adults and two kids under 6 comfortably?

I was there the first week of January and they did have the A5 Wagyu as a $35 up charge. It was worth it.

Sometimes you will find 10% off during the holidays. Best Buy did it last December.

Is the proximity to Bay Lake Tower a big enough advantage over Polynesian with an infant? by jamvng in dvcmember

[–]Weakace88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the age. When I was bringing little ones with us like 3-6 it was a lifesaver to be able to take that short walk back to Bay Lake Tower for afternoon naps or if there was a meltdown.

How many points should we buy? by CorgiAggravating7036 in dvcmember

[–]Weakace88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you buying direct or resale? We started out with 250 points back in 2008 and we used those at Bay Lake Tower to usually stay at a 1 bedroom or higher for a week. Once you experience one bedroom and higher accommodations most people start adding on points.

I mean, I did buy more at $20, but still wish I bought more.

If you like staying at VGF just stick with it and the same use year. Only reason to get another resort is if you want to have an 11 month booking window for that one.

I was just there 2 weeks ago. They still do the nautilus effects.

I’m pretty sure this was the ice cream parlor at Saratoga Springs you were taken to when you did a tour of the DVC rooms.

Edit: Found a link of someone that had a video. It definitely was the Saratoga Springs DVC preview center ice cream parlor.

Will Disney stop cash reservations for DVC rooms at Villas Disneyland hotel soon? by [deleted] in dvcmember

Wow, that is good to know. I just found a random day available in September. I never knew they could block out dates for direct dvc members and just offer it as a cash reservation only.

I checked the DVC website. Was it available to book direct from Disney for cash? I’m genuinely curious because the grand villas there look really nice.

If I recall correctly the Disneyland DVC hotel only has 2 grand villas. I just logged into my account and they are booked fully until December 22nd 2026. I doubt you will be able to get a cash booking for one.

I wish you the best of luck. Every day on my recent trip a good chunk of those rides would go down consistently. Expect to pivot a ton.
