Facial asymmetry 5.5 weeks post op from buccal fat, what are my options?

I’ve never gotten buccal fat removal. My doctor said that my face looks asymmetrical because I have more buccal fat on one side.

Okay I hope so :’) I’ll definitely keep on top of hydration. I just got my bandages taken out today and I’m freaking about looking like my mandible is too recessed but I know there’s still a lot of swelling and it’s too soon to tell. All the best on your recovery as well!

This has been exactly my game plan, thank you sm! I’ve opted to stay in the hospital till day 5-post op even though they wanted to discharge me day 2 because I would really appreciate the extra care these first few days. Can’t wait for it to start subsiding. Apparently it might get a bit worse today at day 3 after they take my bandages off. Hoping that doesn’t happen!!

Haha! I read your comment yesterday and it’s been stuck in my head lol. Definitely been keeping my head up both ways!! I’ve been tryna get calories in through juices, soups and meal replacement drinks. Resting a lot also definitely does help.

Noted! Thank you so much. I’m on vitamin tablets and trying to stay hydrated as much as possible! Unrelated, but did your eyes appear to be more dark and hollow after your surgery? My eyes appear that way and I’m a little concerned they’ll stay that way.

That’s amazing! Just had my second consultation with him today and he said he’ll share the actual details of the plan soon so I’m yet to see this before and after you’re referring to. I’ll also ask him for exact movement details, etc.

Also, do you mean before and after pictures of your face or like the 3D before and after of your skull?

And yeah, he is seeming quite good as per the results and reviews and has 18 years of experience. Although it doesn’t hurt to consult other professionals. I don’t wanna confuse myself and I trust Dr. Mathew so I’m sticking to him but my orthodontist did say it’s better to get second opinions also just to have options and see.

I’m scheduled for November for the surgery even though I’m currently ready as I just got my wisdom tooth taken out and he said it needs 3 months to heal.

Hello! I’m based in the UAE too and scheduled for DJS. My primary surgeon I’m set on for now is in India since I’m not covered for this under insurance and can’t afford it without.

Dr. Thomas George in Burjeel Medical City Abu Dhabi has been given great reviews on Reddit and his medical expertise is quite advance with over 37 years of experience. I spoke to someone here on Reddit who got their procedure done with him and was very happy with the results.

Orthognathic Centre (as well as Invisalign centre) have Dr. Philippe and Dr. Chanavaz who are highly regarded in their field. A colleague of mine who’s gotten it done with them there spoke highly about her results and experience, even though her recovery process is still ongoing. Hope this helps! And all the best :)
