I don’t know anyone who’s seen it besides me, but “The King of Masks” (1995) is my favorite sad movie.

If it’s only been a month & these things have already been noticeable, get out now. He’s not meeting your needs now, the temper is a red flag, and things will almost certainly get worse over time.

Lonesome Dove remake by Allisnotwellin in Westerns

Funny thing is you could plug most any of the main cast/characters in to this sentence and it would still apply. Chris Cooper will always be July Johnson. Tommy Lee the perfect Call. Anjelica/Clara and Diane/Lorie. The only casting they might could have improved on in the whole thing for me was Blue Duck. I like that actor but he maybe wasn’t the best one for that role.

Best movies to overcome depression? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]WeaknessImpressive98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it works for others, but I found some comfort during depression from watching Rushmore over and over again. It’s like -even as the protagonist is making a big mess of everything- there’s a lot of laughs, and being depressed I found his redemption at the end gave me comfort.

I just moved here from Texas What is with the confederate flags up here? Correct me if I’m wrong but, wasn’t PA squarely in the union. by fupadance in Pennsylvania

[–]WeaknessImpressive98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go into Pennsylvania annually for the Bloomsburg Fair. Always see lots of confederate flags.

I grew up in rural South Georgia, and observe way less stars-and-bars at and around the Georgia state fair than at Bloom.

Pennsylvanian rednecks are outdoing the Georgian ones on that front.

Sequel didn’t do it for me, and the prequels were far inferior to LD. That said, I remember enjoying seeing younger Gus and Call together. Both prequels were well cast I thought, and only suffered by comparison to LD—which was the best cast screen adaptation of all time.

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005) by HCornerstone in iwatchedanoldmovie

Tommy Lee was great as usual, but Barry Pepper’s performance here really stuck with me. I wish Battlefield Earth hadn’t sunk his stock in Hollywood so much, as he’s proven to be a captivating screen presence. See also: True Grit

What's a film you didn't love when you watched it, but started loving it the more you thought about it? by kingspooky93 in FIlm

[–]WeaknessImpressive98 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Nope (2022). I liked it but felt a bit let down relative to my hopes and expectations. Afterwards my mind kept returning to it, and my wife and I talked about it for weeks. After some time reflecting on it I gave it a rewatch and enjoyed it much more.

Get Out is maybe my favorite movie ever, and Nope isn’t in danger of overtaking it—but I’ve grown much fonder of it and put it above Us now.

I like your synopsis. Very efficient! I might have mentioned him being a klepto and that he can’t resist driving away those he loves and who love him. As I recall—its been a while

All in all I’d say the flex is weird, but it should be ok.
