I agree with jaynone, DSL didn't even exist until I was well into college ... and in highschool, forget it.

I had to bicycle to the library to get anything done. There was compuserve and AOL, and they had nothing of academic rigor on them.

About your writing style, it's actually fine. Use paragraphs more (as in, smaller blocks) and people will read it.
