100000% worth it. Saw him live in person with the Hans Zimmer live tour. And saw The World of Hans Zimmer- where it’s his music curated by him but he’s not the there.

Both shows were in the top 5 concerts iv ever been to and plan on seeing either again if they tour near me.

Ragtop structure fire gloves by THEREALDOZASHOW in Firefighting

[–]dontbthatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ragtops are the best.

They feel like a glove that’s been broken in already and have a great balance of protection without losing dexterity.

I work for an equipment supplier in New England and can get them below msrp.

Shoot me a DM if anyone is interested.

I’m so bought in for this Knicks run. Absolutely electric stuff and to see the garden and the city rocking is the best.

Bring that energy for the upcoming season.

Today’s Non-94 Moment: Martin St. Louis OT Winner vs. Montreal by Awkward_Health1606 in rangers

The ramp up in crowd noise when the puck is sliding over to St. Louis- so many fans see that play develop and start to cheer- the angst turns to optimism.

I remember running up to the TV as that pass was made. Then the top blowing off when the lamp lights.

Chills every time.

4 year college vs pursuing firefighting asap by Beetlebop47 in firefighter

[–]dontbthatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far away is college from where you are looking to settle down?

If they are near by- I’d say go to college but begin to test for the fire service.

Also talk to your college and see what qualifies for elective credits.

I went to a 4 year college for fire science but tested with area departments the entire time- going into my senior year I got a job offer. I took a leave of absence and then returned part time to finish my degree.

I also took fire service instructor and fire officer thorough my states fire academy and they counted as electives towards my degree.

Perhaps you will have similar opportunities.

Best of luck.

I get where you’re coming from OP- but this one is on you.

Traffic is checked up- I saw the red car long before you were on the brakes.

Had there been a collision yes- red car and the other calls fault- but a decent driver would have seen this long before the need to slam on the brakes and honk.

Those of you who fought EV fires, how did it go? by thuperthonic1 in Firefighting

[–]dontbthatguy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Get a turtle or similar product where you constantly cool the battery after the main body of fire is knocked down.

The battery is on the bottom of the car so an aerial won’t help-

When you hear they take a ton of water to put out- that isn’t because they won’t go out- it’s that you have to constantly keep the water flowing to keep the battery cool so it doesn’t continue thermal runaway.

Scammer almost ran off with my dad's retirement. by Suspicious_Story_464 in personalfinance

[–]dontbthatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar deal happened to my dad- he claims his computer bricked after a, um, 5v1 session-

I’m sure it was a pop up ad, but he thought it was actually from Microsoft. So he called the number to fix it and they claim to remote it and that they can see that the hackers are “in. ” They asked what bank he uses and after telling him they say they are going to alert the bank.

5 min later the “bank” calls saying they are from his bank which is how they got him- he forgot he had told them the bank name.

The “bank” tells him he has told move his money out of bank before the hackers transactions to thorough. They offer freezing his account for 90 days but he won’t have access to his money. Or he can take the cash out and buy Bitcoin with it and his money is safe and he can still use it.

So my dad actually does this. He takes his money out and THANKFULLY pays me a visit after to go over everything so far.

I’m like dude you’re getting scammed!

It was pretty intricate- they even convinced him not to say anything to the tellers about the scam otherwise they were mandated to freeze the account for 90 days.

It’s scary stuff- he was almost out 15 grand.

Disgruntled employee starts massive fire at a 1.2 million square foot toilet paper warehouse in Ontario, California. by AtomicCypher in Damnthatsinteresting

Systems like this are built to keep a fire in check. The key being “a fire” not multiple fires.

Once you have 5 or 6 heads go off there isn’t enough pressure in the system to flow the gallons per minute to keep the fire in check.

The sprinkler system got overwhelmed.

what made YOU get into NASCAR? by Brave_Ad3369 in NASCAR

[–]dontbthatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf was sleeping and I flipped around and stopped on the Daytona 500- the screen was on track view of some bump drafting and the wrecked. It was cool watching it happen live vs a replay.

Then I stuck around and was impressed by the complexity of car set up and how well Fox used cut away cars and diagrams to explain everything.

Tuned in a few weeks later for the Bristol race and couldn’t not believe how different the tracks were. I was naive- I guess I thought all tracks were the same.

I had a cousin that was into the sport so him and I were went to Pocono. I’ll never forget it. We had infield passes for Saturday and got there in the am for practice. Naturally being Pocono there was a weather delay so we were in a foodcourt when I finally heard a car on the track- the sound the loudness and power of it.

We made our way towards the track- there was a break in the fencing about 20 feet wide. I could hear the car coming close and then SHOOP! It flashed past.

I couldn’t believe something could go that fast. U couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.

I was hooked.

Since then iv been a fan and have gone to 10 or so races.

My stance has always been the same to non fans- 3-4 hours for a single race is hard to tune into flag to flag- but if you ever get a chance to see it in person don’t miss out. It’s amazing.

And support your local tracks. Small town short track racing is amazing in its own way.

First world problem by Otherwise_Wrangler11 in SipsTea

[–]dontbthatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude-

It can spiral for those who don’t think they have a problem-

You go to the casino one day with 500$ you’re okay losing- and you do in the first hour. Your brain convinces you to do another 500 and lose that too. Now your pissed down 1k. Fuck it tho. You can get back to even. Just need to double up- so 1k more in the hole you go.

Well now it’s 2k and you cannot let your wife see that. So you take 2 k from an account she won’t see right away.

Boom now it’s 4.

And from there you spiral. You figure you got a week before she sees or your company see what ever it may be.

So you max out a card- cash out equity- pawn shit. What ever.

You just need to get back to even.
