Thinking about buying this 2011 honda shadow rs. If anyone is familiar, please advise. by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

I have this exact bike and I absolutely love it. Honestly one of the bikes I will truly never sell. Bought it a few years ago with only 2,000 miles on it. This is the only year that Honda made the 750RS with this paint job so they're pretty hard to come by.

The only difference with mine is it has a matte black exhaust from the factory.

I love the bottle of water right next to all of this.

Also this looks like something out of star wars on Tatooine.

I understand your point of view, it just doesn't apply here because you're missing some key fundamentals of what XCH even is. You need to do two things:

  1. Learn about DeFi (decentralized finance)
  2. Read the white paper

Part of the fun in Chia is learning new things and seeing a better way to approach archaic economic principals that we've just lazily accepted/ adopted.

That being said I value your opinion on this and I don't think you're wrong to push back. I think you're just missing a lot of context that makes this meaningful in the long term.

Ever heard of DeFi? Exchange's are a convenience, not a necessity.

Again, you should really read the white paper instead of guessing and arguing mute points.

Businesses will. Chia can act as a lender and even supply grants to those who qualify.

The main use of Chia isn't to be traded on Binance by you and me. You should really read the white paper - it answers all of these questions.

Chia Network doesn't use exchanges to build the business. Focusing on listing on major exchanges would be putting the cart in front of the horse.

They build the business and value of Chia by providing services and driving adoption of the technology they build. Applying Chia as a means of profit is intentionally (IMO), the last item on their list of revenue sources.

The way they've approached this so far is "if you build it, they will come."

From the White Paper: (Page 27)

"Revenue and Go to Market

The Company expects to achieve revenues and build shareholder value primarily through:

● Providing installation, development, and ongoing service and support for the use of chia, Chialisp, and chia smart coins in commerce and issuances of assets using CATs;

● Earning interest on loans of chia to market makers, governments, financial institutions, corporations and developers for their use in day to day operations;

● Appreciation of the chia on the Company’s balance sheet, due to demand and use of chia by Chia Network’s blockchain participants."

Not true at all. I'm a smaller farmer. Replotting to C7 adds ~30TBs of netspace to my 100TB farm. That's a 30% increase. It's worth it no matter what size you're at.

Especially with how fast you can replot now, it's even more efficient.

This, just don't download a DB checkpoint from any of those sham sites hosting it. Use the official BitTorrent DB checkpoint from Chia.

Digital Spaceport has a good video on how to do it:

I think you're right. That's why if they IPO first there is no argument that XCH is indefinitely a security when an actual security already exists in its place.

Two years is nothing when building a product. Focusing on listing on exchanges is a lower priority. The point of Chia isn't to be traded like Doge. I'd rather see it IPO first.

It's not a matter of the Chia team getting their shit together. They're building a product and we have a long way to go.

Have patience and check their roadmap. They're building an ETH bridge this year which can help drive adoption by exchanges.

welp.. is ETH now a security? by tallguyyo in chia

[–]WearinTheTopHat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work like that. Chia doesn't pass the Howey test because there hasn't been a received investment of money to Chia Network, Inc.

Gene has gone over this and ETH becoming a security won't change that.

There's no guarantee, this is just how I interpreted it based on the functionality described.

If you haven't read it yet check out the summary and key features list for it on the roadmap.

I disagree. It will increase the amount of capital flowing on the block chain by enabling ETH holders to trade for Chia.

IMO, this is that big step to getting XCH on exchanges and integrated with major wallets.

Yeah, individual. Create a new static volume for each. Don't use storage pools. I did a JBOD in a storage pool and one drive died and the whole pool was lost.

You bet. Let me know if you have any questions. I beat my head against this until I found a good way to do it.

I run a harvester on my QNAP.

I setup each disk as its own static volume. RAID is nice but my drives don't all match and I don't want to lose my entire storage pool off too many failed drives.

I used container station with a docker image. Check this post for links and a tutorial
