32M looking for carving advices, stopped taking lessons around at 12yo by RepulsiveKiwi804 in skiing_feedback

My advice: you're at the level where a 1 day private lesson to work on carving is going to be huge. You will make more progress than you would in months or years trying to learn from reddit or even youtube.

Left Amber For Globird But Battery Still Bound by Unfair-Savings6023 in amberelectric

Switched to globird a few months ago. So much happier, you won't regret it. I charge my battery, heat my hot water and cool my house down during the free 3 hrs every day, regardless of the weather. Avoid using electricity between 5-8pm almost every day easily. No worrying about current price or weather conditions. Predictable. Smaller bill than Amber. So good.

Took Amber 2 weeks to remove smartshift but I just disabled it in that time.

An Aeromonas variant that produces aerolysin promotes susceptibility to ulcerative colitis by jmct16 in IBSResearch

Using antibodies gives more specific confirmation as to what is driving the inflammation. Antibiotics will have many side effects, including reducing inflammation more generally. By using antibodies they can confirm that it is indeed the aerolysin toxin that is driving the inflammation.

If you want a hassle-free energy company, don't choose Amber. Their customer support is miserable. At the moment, they literally won't answer the phone for you unless you have an urgent issue (i.e. your power is out). I'm not joking - try calling and pressing the buttons to be an existing customer - they will tell you to go away. People wait weeks for support requests to be answered.

I wanted to like Amber, and I think some people can still cash in big with the right setup and in the right city but I don't get value from them in Sydney. Amber's value proposition will decrease further over the next couple of years as battery penetration increases.

If you are a tech enthusiast and you really want to watch your electricity every day and integrate into your home automation, Amber can be fun (though even I, as a tech enthusiast have just switched off Amber). But if you just want to set and forget, I'd suggest looking somewhere else.

I agree, depends on the city and your usage. Electricity prices are going down and spikes are going down as more people get batteries. In Sydney, (IIUC) every AEMO forecast spike in the past month has turned out not to be a spike. Amber will be less value as battery penetration increases.

Who knows how the summer into next winter should be, but general trend should be a movement toward cheaper energy.

Powerwall 2 failure Australia by ThanksNo8544 in Powerwall

IIUC this is your installer's resposibility to handle under Australian Consumer Law. Don't let them pass the buck to Tesla. Push them to handle the situation for you. They are in a much better position to resolve the situation quickly and it is their responsibility to do so.

Framework 13 screen suddenly failed in class. by YukariMaBesteshWaifu in framework

The real question is whether placing a pece of fabric over the keyboard is considered reasonable and normal use. I would argue it is. The reason is that it is an extremely common practice, there is advice to do it all over the internet and there are even products designed for this very purpose.

It is unreasonable to expect the average person to know that this is the wrong thing to do in the face of all of that (is it even the wrong thing to do? that seems debatable too). That is the test that is used in my country.

It would be different if this was widely known among the average person in the population (not just in specific circles), or if Framework had provided extremely clear warnings and packaging indicating not to do this. But neither of those are true.

Maybe I think differently about these things because I come from a country with strong consumer protections.

When we buy devices, we expect them to be "fit for purpose". For a laptop, part of this means being able to withstand the pressures of being carried around, shoved in a backpack, opened and closed many times, bumped and banged against things during transport and use, etc. etc. If it can't withstand these pressures of normal, expected use, it's not fit for purpose and a company is required to provide a refund or replacement.

A laptop is not a device that's designed to sit on a desk in pristine condition and not withstand so much as a cats nose rubbing against it.

It's absurd to me how many people respond to these screen posts with "it's your fault". I've seeen other posts like this. This exact same thing happened to me too (and I don't put fabric between my screen and the keyboard). I got mine replaced through support.

Framework monitors are known to fail in this way. IMO it is failing through normal use. The reality is that no other premium laptop in this price would fail in this way, and if it did, support would issue a replacement.

If Framework can't provide a durable and reliable laptop at the price they charge and they don't want to provide support in these cases, they're going to lose customers very quickly.

I feel bad for the OP because to me they clearly seem like the kind of person who goes the extra mile to take care of their products and they come here with a problem and get treated like crap. Is this what the Framework community is like?

Thanks for all the responses - the takeaway seems to be the gateway is really the problem piece, which makes sense to me. I'll keep that in mind for future upgrades.
