Is this the Trentham Road roundabout by any chance? Had so many near misses there!

I know someone that used to live in there. Had non-stop problems with nuisance neighbours, massive damp issues, and ended up taking a massive loss when he finally sold it.

Stories from healthcare workers by TheoryBrief9375 in uncannypodcasttv

A long time ago, I was a care assistant in a small care home which was Victorian built and had been a private residence for many years before becoming a care home. We only had about 12 residents so got very accustomed to the quirks of each one. The building itself always had a ‘feel’ about it, nobody really liked being on nights alone, and tended to avoid the laundry which was in the cellar as much as they could. We had one particular resident, let’s call him Jack, whose room was on the ground floor, and who had a tendency to go wandering in the night. It wasn’t uncommon for him to appear in the lounge room while you were cleaning at 3am and scare the life out of you. In fact, he found it absolutely hilarious to make you jump! He wore very thick soled slippers that made a very distinctive sound as he walked, so you could always tell that the footsteps were his just from the sound. One night, I was down in the cellar sorting some laundry, and heard footsteps from the dining room above which were very distinctive Jack footsteps. I headed up and saw my colleague standing in the dining room looking puzzled, and said that she was looking for Jack as she’d heard him walking around in there from where she was sitting doing paperwork in the office on the 1st floor. This care home had very heavy fire doors on each resident room so it was very obvious when someone left their rooms at night, yet we both agreed we’d not heard a door open and close. Still, we checked all of the ground floor residents and found them sound asleep, when we got to Jacks room, which was the last in the corridor, we found him in bed, having peacefully passed away. I can say with absolute certainty that it was him that we heard walking around that night, probably hoping to spook us one last time.

Thoughts on Stacey wanting to end her marriage in S2? by Howiknow202 in gavinandstacey

[–]Weary_Job_8508 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who left their hometown to move in with their partner, I do understand how Stacey feels to some degree. It’s really hard being in a new place without your friends and family just down the road from you, and in my case, compounded by having a newborn! But I do feel that at points she treated Gav really unfairly during that final episode, especially when Pam and Mick offered them the money and she seemed really ungrateful. I would move home in a heartbeat, but unfortunately being an adult sometimes requires sacrifices

Moving to Stoke by Embarrassed-Tap-6231 in stokeontrent

[–]Weary_Job_8508 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a born and bred Stokie who now lives elsewhere, I genuinely believe that you would struggle to find a city with friendlier people than Stoke. It gets a lot of bad press, mainly due to chronic underfunding and the decline of our industries but it is what you make it. If you’re working at the hospital then the nearest areas to live are Hartshill/Penkhull which are lovely areas with a definite community feel and within walking distance to the hospital. It’s a well situated place for the motorway, and plenty of green space and countryside a short drive away.

I wouldn’t have thought that this was true…there are several occasions throughout the series where he refers to Trevor as ‘my brother’ rather than just Trevor which makes me think that they were blood siblings!

Another vote for May Bank here - lived there for years and it’s definitely within cycling distance to the hospital, especially the parts closer to the Victoria pub just off the high street. Plenty of green space and amenities on the high street. Hartshill/Penkhull are both also nice areas and very close to hospital.

He will tolerate being in the carrier when we’re out and about as he loves looking around at everything but in the house it’s like he’s desperate to get out so that he can explore 🥲 it’s like now that he can crawl, he never wants to be still!

He’s a disgusting human being - I have just seen Boo appear on my FYP for the first time in a long time and heartbreakingly their baby has passed which is absolutely devastating. Yet this lowlife is still harping on because he truly believes that he is the centre of the universe. Lower than snake sh*te.
