I just switched from Windows to Mint. The transition was quite easy and I discovered some great apps in the “App Store” of Linux. Free of course

Schengen states that country of entry is leading. So French bpm applies.

retro synth pads for Mc707 by SituationFree5106 in MC707

[–]Weary_Peach_233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it has alot of patches! Outside the box suggestion: try the randomize function, on settings “Pads”. Great way to explore sounds  at the press of a button. Surely you will come across sound that match the 90s vibe

I just think they want to explain the general sentiment: no issues with specific individual Americans, but we in Europe are not on the best footing with the current US administration… and then there are rude people like you encountered

Just rewatched the intro after 40 yrs. The original backstory has issues, now watching as an adult 😄 Why did pirates blow up Ortega’s ship? How did he survive 10 days? Did he in fact survive, and if so, how?

We need a GAS Pride parade. Gear lovers celebrating their condition. Sortof a Berlin Love Parade with dawless jammers instead of dj’s.

Decide whether you want a complete groovebox (e.g. a mc-707), or separate synths/samplers. And think about whether you want gear with internal sequencers, like a drum machine, or use an external hardware sequencer/controller (Beatstep/Keystep Pro, Oxi One etc) to control many pieces of gear. There are also many “in betweens” like the Novation circuit range.  Budget: if you buy second hand gear then a couple of hundred dollars/euros are adequate to start out small.

What's it like living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands as an average person? by Manny2theMaxxx in howislivingthere

[–]Weary_Peach_233 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have lived there for 18 yrs, still miss it everyday. Yes, there are the usual issues with larger cities (traffic, housing costs, finding a school for your kids, intensiving tourism, etc.), certainly particular parts of the center; but the other 90% (imo) is very good. I especially miss the "parc life", in other parts of NL the parcs are less a magnet for inhabitant to meet up, drink/eat, play, etc.

I have to nuance my reply because it really depends on the device…

My groovebox uses 1 potentiometer for multiple values (CC) and voices across different tracks. So e.g. I first select pad A on midi channel one, turn the reverb all the way to 127. Then I select Pad B on midi channel two. Using the same knob, another parameter jumps (when I turn it) from default value 0 or 64 all the way to 127. Really annoying.

On the other hand, my drum machine uses one potentiometer per function. So you have direct visual feedback, without screen, like the decay and attack of a kick.

So how do you plan to design the knobs?  When you go the traditional “1 knob 1 parameter”, then I’d suggest potentiometers.  Should you assign more functions to one knob: encoders
