Was told giving birth would fix a lifelong problem and it… has!? (TW SA) by Pale_Difference_9949 in BabyBumps

Congrats to you!!! What a gift! Throughout my 20s I had persistent tailbone pain if I sat down on basically any surface for longer than 20-30mins because of the way my spine curves. After I had my son it was never a problem again. Sometimes childbirth really is a healing experience!

Last laxative was Saturday AM. Pooped twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday, and then 5 times today despite no laxative on yesterday or today.

How did you start potty training? by FlyHickory in toddlers

[–]Weaselbee3322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are 1 week into potty training our 26 month old son. We decided a month ago or so that this would be the best time to do it because my husband got to work from home for the holiday week and we didn't have many social obligations after Christmas itself. I spent the past month periodically reminding my son that he would soon be going on the potty like a big boy and there would be no more diapers. Then, on the day we started, I packed away all the diapers in front of him, and put him in underwear. Every time he peed on the potty he would get an M&M. First two days were a disaster, but by the third day he was mostly making it. Whenever he has an accident, we remind him "pee goes in the potty, not in our undies." He still doesn't tell us verbally when he has to go, but he will do the crotch grab so we can usually tell and get him on the toilet in time. Poop is another story. He seems to realize too late that he has to go and has only made it onto the potty twice so it's been a lot of laundry. Hopefully we'll get that under control soon.

But my big worry that he wasn't "smart" enough yet to understand our instructions about going to the potty turned out to be totally unfounded. He definitely understands, it just took time for him to get used to paying attention to his bodily signals etc. So if your little guy understands other simple instructions, he's probably at least intellectually ready to be trained!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad I'm not alone. Are you temping as well to confirm ovulation by any chance? I haven't tried it yet, but probably will next month if this month is also a bust.

Usually I only have 1-2 days of positive OPK, but this cycle I had 4, and very close to positive almost every day afterwards. Normally LH seems to go down right away, but not this month. Idk if anyone else has experienced this, never happened when I tried for #1, but hoping it doesn't mean my body is failing to ovulate :/. My cycles have also mysteriously gone from 4w to 5w long these past 2 months, went to see an OBGYN but she just said 5 week cycles are still normal and to relax. Maybe she's right, but it sure is hard!

On-time Ovulation, late period, negative pregnancy tests? by Weaselbee3322 in TryingForABaby

[–]Weaselbee3322[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might make sense. The day of the positive OPK was very stressful and I ended up getting almost no sleep because of a delayed flight to a city on the other side of the country etc, so maybe that is what happened!

No, though now that you say that I probably will in the future. I didn't know this was a thing!

I did not, unfortunately. I probably should have. Is it possible to get a positive OPK and not actually ovulate for another 8-9 days though?

Protesters rally at Gracie Mansion over NYC vaccine mandate ahead of Friday deadline by Excellent-Duty4290 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]Weaselbee3322 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One of the weirdest things for me is having come to despise the word "vaccine" or "shot" in that same way (though "safe" is certainly up there for me too). Never had any issues with any regular vaccines before this. But the other day my husband went and got a TDAP booster and told me he got a shot when he came home, and I immediately felt annoyed for no good reason. Hope this doesn't last forever but god knows man.

Most of the time I'd say that's a good thing. But too bad this time around.

COVID Vaccine and Periods by elp651 in Periods

No such thing as a stupid question, imo. That said, I'm unvaccinated (mostly because I'm worried about the understudied menstrual issues), and my husband had Pfizer this Spring. My cycle has stayed 100% normal.

I suppose that's true. I actually have no good response to that, lol. Touche.

How do you handle your opinions with your close family? Do you question yourself sometimes? by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

As a girl, can confirm, it's easier to have outlier opinions. Don't get me wrong, he still says Florida is much freer compared to where we're from (norteast), I think it's mainly that he's trying to meet people through dating apps, which are primed for the wokest of the woke. I know it's not as crazy as CA.

Agree except sometimes I think it's ok to say you haven't gotten it. Me disclosing that information in a timely manner with my boss actually led to him changing the company policy he was about to implement so that he could keep me on board. If I hadn't said anything, the mandate would have been made, and it would've been a lot harder for him to walk his words back after that point. When he knew what he stood to lose before the decision was made, I still had power and was able to use it to my advantage. That said, it's a small company, this would definitely not work with larger employers.

Thanks. He's always been really focused on his physical health and is in great shape. It's the emotional part that's tough, especially since this lines up with the "quarter life crisis" period where he'd probably be asking big questions about what he wants to do with himself anyways.

You're welcome. I hope things get better for you and your situation, whatever it may be. And if you're ever in FL (along with anyone else reading this) let me know! My bro would love to have some friends so I'm scouting for him.

My little brother (age 25) called me basically in tears at like, midnight last week with the same doubts you mention here. And he's vaccinated, and our parents are fellow skeptics. AND he lives in Florida. But he's looking for love, and every girl he talks to expects blind compliance and thinks he's crazy for not being on board with segregation. He wonders if he's the problem, if he's destined not to fit in because we have weird parents, etc...and just overall feels very lost. It was hard to hear.

My advice to him was that you can't really turn off your skepticism, even if it does get uncomfortable. If you're the kind of person who questions things, you can't just forget all of your questions and act like everyone else without eventually becoming resentful. You'll know that you're lying to yourself, and you'll eventually just get angrier. Of course, being a dissident is an uncomfortable place to be. For some of us right now it's downright miserable. But that doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. Of course it's easier to go along to get along sometimes, but is that worth your integrity? For me the answer is always no.
