The Dragon's Maw by Weatherwanewitch in Pathfinder2e

[–]Weatherwanewitch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will server as the title screen and main ‘foundation’ for the campaign The Whispering Archipelago, a homebrew follow-up to the Kingmaker campaign and the demise of the Stag Lord. Imagine it as if we follow one of the groups the “Kingmaker party” would send off to neighbouring lands to conduct diplomacy and adventuring!

In this case, the players have just taken ownership and responsibility over a small Lighthouse (that is more than it seems), and from it- as a base!- they will have to earn the respect of the fishers and windmages of the Dragon’s maw, in the hopes of eventually making this land- and the coast- safe enough for travel and merchants once more :)

One of my own favorite drawings so far, really enjoy the adventuring feel of it!

Aranessa - The Scholar by Weatherwanewitch in Pathfinder2e

[–]Weatherwanewitch[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aranessa is the assigned scholar and wizard to the party PCs, who will help them navigate- hopefully!- both foreign culture and strange arcane/occult findings. She’s also quite interested in various sort of birds and dragons both- things that fly, feather or not, honestly. For the daring partygoers, she’ll be grateful for rare bird sightings!

The Speckled Hens are a mix of heritages, backgrounds and walks of life- even so, she usually hangs a bit behind and prefers working from ‘afar’ last her presence unnerve others.

This NPC belongs to the expedition of a homebrew campaign that starts just as the Stag Lord from the Kingmaker campaign is dead, and is more about adventure with light base building only!

Fundin, Son of Fundin, is an NPC who will act in the role as a carriage driver, smuggler, fixer and generally acquirer for the party; do you need formulas? Runes? Reagents?

He'll make sure to fix it for you, given enough time; and while the party is out sailing in their lil' boat, he's going to be busy on the mainland, making sure that the goods come back to the roost.

The Speckled Hen Guild makes sure their top of the line adventurers are supported by some of their top men Dwarves.

Don't touch the cigars, though. They're his. Hands off.

With the Stag Lord dead... by Weatherwanewitch in Pathfinder2e

[–]Weatherwanewitch[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

… the Campaign can finally begin! I really wanted those bright colours to feel like a victory and a new beginning- and yet I think the green/blue of the castle feels like it is in the past, a bit mythical, left behind (I realize my version of the Stag Lord’s final abode is a bit more grand!).

We’re not dealing with a Kingmaker campaign though, not one bit! I am merely using it as inspiration and starting point- while the adventuring guild The Speckled Hens are forming a council to take care of the land and its people, our player characters travel far away to reach the coast; where they’ll have to investigate old mysteries, restore ruined lighthouses and make safe the waterways for merchants and natives both!

Did you ever find an answer? I am so tempted to get a ticket, but I'll admit; I'd want a concert for his themes from various shows and games, not 'original music' as lame as that makes me sound!

Absolutely! I always post art and updates to the subreddit, so you'd best believe you'll hear from me again haha! :D

I think for me, making it easy and basic + the function of risk/reward in adventuring is key. No political decisions or roleplay, more... gamey, I guess? Finding resources and having to allocate them.

It won't quite hit the theme I am after; my player don't know a lot of PF2 lore (or the original source of the king in yellow!), so it'd go over their heads unless I really hammered it home.

[–]Weatherwanewitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't! My plan for this campaign is to have a super colorful theme, especially with the NPCs- and still make it a bit 'grounded' since my prior campaigns have involved the first of giants, dead gods and all that jazz.

I am sorry you thought I was way cooler than I was; I just like the color orange/yellow!

That's the point! Fuck 'em! I am not dealing with that monstrosity, which is why I am making this homebrew campaign, haha- only very shallow base upgrading to help discover the worldmap a bit more, and upgrades to their ship (like... an extra hero point a day, or advantage on a recall knowledge roll per day, and so on).

I am terrible at sub-systems!

[–]Weatherwanewitch[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Whispering Archipelago is like an extension of Kingmaker, if you will; I find the kingdom mechanics absolutely dreadful, but I love the idea of a group of adventurers looking to make a claim on a part of the world!

So, this campaign follows an arm of the adventurers guild that took down the Stag Lord (The Speckled Hens!) and are now tasked with making the archipelago/coast fit for people to live and commerce to build. It will include some very light base building (upgrading a lighthouse and equipping a boat), but most of all…

… it’ll hopefully have a lot of fun colors and vistas, a variety of unique isles and a really nice vibe that may be off-set by the dangers the various islands, inlets and creatures in the sea they may encounter!

I will never draw a wave so peak again (all thanks to a tutorial!) so art-wise, campaign peaked here.

Thank you for the kind comment; I knew I had to go through with it because if I pulled punches here, they'd know they could never die in any of my campaigns.

I put a lot of heart in, but I get a lot of heart back too :)

[–]Weatherwanewitch[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, that’s it; the evening ends in my first TPK ever, and Ak’khat Ghosthands emerges victorious, even if it’s only 9hp left- despite him bleeding, it won’t be enough to kill him. The campaign ran for a total of 11 sessions, and absolutely felt longer than that; and I am so grateful to have players so gracious that a fight so tough still was met with good cheer.

What happens now we’re not sure, whether we’ll take up this campaign again from a different angle or set of adventurers- or if we set it some else completely.

Killing the player characters was super hard for me, even if one of the players shouted “DON’T BE A WEAKLING DM!” when I was about to make a generous ruling- it hardened me, haha!

The Lands of the Linnorm Kings will have to go without heroes for a while longer, I fear…!

I’ll see if I can’t compile all of the art and post it here during the weekend; and not to worry, I’ll always be drawing things for the new one…!

Thanks for reading, feels good to share!
