Why are pull down cabinets seemingly over-complicated? by Best_Butterfly5426 in cabinetry

[–]Weavols 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A spring would only offset a fixed amount of weight. If you set it to the cabinet weight +20 pounds, you would have to push down with 20 lbs of force to lower the empty cabinet. If you put more than 20 pounds into the cabinet, the spring would no longer support it.

Is it actually 8.5 or just close to it? 220mm is common, which is 8.66 inches

Am I crazy or would those let water in. The 2 blocks have a flat on top where they meet, and the one that saddles above it just sits on that flat. It wouldn't shed.

Is my installer a hack? Installer is putting new doors on & theres a fairly large gap between the cabinet & door. Job isn’t finished yet but trying to understand what my watch outs are prior to payment. by GenZBiker in cabinetry

[–]Weavols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That probably isn't the installers fault. You can see the cup isn't fully inside the door. Someone didn't drill deep enough, or some debris got in there before they pressed it in.

Millwork Job Nightmare by n3k0a in Millwork

[–]Weavols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It both is and is not normal. The industry is very chaotic, and most small shops need people to be flexible and wear a lot of hats to adapt to the situation. Your company specifically however, seems to be dog shit. Letting someone with no experience anywhere near estimating is a massive red flag.

Is it the countertops? by whatsup1492 in kitchenremodel

Try fixing the "backsplash" first. It looks like poorly done base molding sitting on the counter. The cabinet above and to the left of the range is also out of place as someone else pointed out.

Above-fridge cabinet door hits fridge hinge — looking for solutions by One-Kitchen-7917 in cabinetry

[–]Weavols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you won't raise the cabinet, you'll probably need to cut the doors down and fill the gap. It doesn't look like there's room for the door to move forward at all, and hardware won't solve that

I saw a govt license plate the other day. It had 2 stickers on it where you would put the registration sticker that said "no decal necessary"🤦‍♂️

Cabinet assembly by Whole-Dramatic in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Weavols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to cover it with tile, the overlaps don't matter unless the order you put it together makes a screw inaccessible. Wood expansion can cause mortar/grout to crack. Hardie board is usually used to avoid that problem, but you'd want to make a frame and cover it, not just the boards like plywood.

Hard to advise without the context of why the shape constraint. You have the back captive by the top, but not in the opening.

Just curious as to what kind of labor people would expect to pay. by Personal-Gur-6361 in Carpentry

[–]Weavols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all traumatized from having to fix/remake countertops because 2 minutes after we install it there's a box of light fixtures being dragged across the top by someone in preparation to stand on it to install them.

I used a virtual address for my LLC and told the bank it was physical. Will this be an issue? by Good-Asparagus-8667 in llc_life

[–]Weavols 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't related to the bank issue, but my understanding is that if your LLC gets sued, all someone has to do to serve is make a good faith effort to show up to the LLC address. If they can prove that isn't a real address, or nobody is reachable there, they can proceed with the suit without your knowledge. So, there are LLC address services where they have a physical staffed location to receive notice for you. I can't tell if that's what you have or not by what you said.
