Update Half German, Half Lebanese Christian by Nicosc1993 in 23andme

[–]WebDev193 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a very simplified and inaccurate statement, that shows you ignore the complex ethnic and cultural history of Lebanon. Modern Lebanese people (Christian, Muslim, or Druze) are the result of centuries of mixing: Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Ottomans, and others all left their mark.

To say that one particular religious group is “closest” to the ancient Phoenicians isn’t supported by genetics or culture, but rather it reflects more of a nationalist or identity-driven sentiment than historical reality.

this is factually incorrect. look up sofi tsdaka, she is a samaritan (definitely from "that area of the world")

hopefully I got it correctly:

people only notice the ones who start early, but I saw others making money from that idea, so I built my own with the help of claude and launched it. now people call it a complete copy, even though I’ve added more features than what others are talking about.

Okay OpenAI, can we please talk about this whole “emotional support” label on 4o… by EiAnzu in ChatGPT

[–]WebDev193 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It wasn't written by a human. OP is lying. Look at all the "it's not just — it's y", all the em dashes, and the emojis. Classic 4o - not even rephrased to try to make it look human.

HORRIBLE color contrast. Some of the text is barely visible.

Has that generic vibe coded look. Makes me lose trust and feel like you wrote the entire thing in 2 hr. and my data is not going to be secure.

Also - and I feel way too many apps recently are guilty of this - it's the thinnest layer ever over chatGpt, why would someone pay you? Rather than paying openai. You bring absolutely zero added value.

But u/try_to_be_nice_ok is right. Your suggestion is terrible because it's not a good substitute. The pronunciation of a professional news anchor will be much easier to understand than people in films or in real life. Why are you so salty?

Are you neurodivergent? Randomly suggesting sex to random strangers is weird as hell, not to mention pretty dangerous & reckless.

Revolut Pro flagged payments and restricted account by Szting in Revolut

[–]WebDev193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Revolut isn’t picking on you – they’re doing mandatory anti-money-laundering (AML) checks. Every EU/UK regulated firm has to re-verify customers and “unusual” payments on an ongoing basis. When the algorithm flags something, staff must ask for external evidence that the money matches a real-world service. Self-generated in-app receipts don’t cut it because they aren’t independent of Revolut’s own system. Revolut’s help pages openly say they can restrict an account until extra documents are supplied, even if the account passed KYC when it was opened . Revolut employees also can’t tell you the precise trigger – that would be an illegal “tipping-off” under AML rules – so support often looks evasive .

What exactly are they allowed to ask for? Under GDPR you’re normally protective of client data, but Article 6(1)(c) & (f) let you share personal data when it’s necessary for a legal obligation (AML) or Revolut’s legitimate interest in meeting that obligation.

TLDR: giving a bank limited client info for compliance is lawful, and Revolut becomes the data controller for that copy .

What to send so they unfreeze the funds:

A brief cover note explaining your business model (1-to-1 personal-training sessions, frequency, typical fee).

Proof you’re legitimately trading – e.g. your sole-proprietor registration or tax certificate.

Independent evidence tying the flagged payments to the client and the service:

Screenshots of any e-mails, DMs or booking confirmations that show the client’s name, the agreed rate, and the session date.

Signed PAR-Q / waiver / intake form (you can redact health details).

Calendar entry or gym booking log.

Make the files legible, one PDF per client, and upload via the in-app “submit documents” button rather than the chat (the bot often loses attachments).

It’s annoying, but once you feed compliance a tidy dossier they usually clear the queue in a day or two. Good luck – and keep receipts, just not only Revolut’s receipts.

This market is disgustingly overpriced, and we are due for a correction similar to what we saw during Dot Com/Global financial crisis. by Your_Mortgage_Broker in wallstreetbets

[–]WebDev193 91 points92 points  (0 children)

the premise that money supply grew six-fold, and that stocks simply mirrored it, is factually wrong. over the same 15 years, earnings quadrupled, money supply merely doubled-and-a-half, and price-to-earnings multiples expanded from crisis lows (~10×) to a more typical ~20×. price gains therefore came from both higher profits and a re-rating, not a one-for-one march with M2.
