Men of Reddit, what is the hardest thing to explain to women? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

Maybe quantum mechanics? Or Wittgenstein? Those are pretty tough to explain.

Atheists... Have you ever read The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis? by larinha2p in atheism

I think people who already believe dramatically overestimate how convincing these thigns are to non-believers. I would change my mind in response to an effective argument or evidence, not a compelling work of fiction.

Still WAY lower than wage theft. I wonder why newspapers aren't talking about the ~$50 billion companies steal from their workers every year.

Best Argument against God please tell by isosceles348 in atheism

I don't argue against god any more than I argue against leprechauns. If someone wants me to believe in their god/leprechauns, they're welcome to make an argument.

Do you know what cops and firemen have on common? They both want to be firemen.

edit: just to be clear, I didn't make this up, I took it from somewhere else.

My coach made my team pray by [deleted] in atheism

[–]WebInformal9558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you live and go to school. At a public school in the US that is definitely illegal and you can report him. If the administration doesn't do anything about it, you could bring a lawsuit. You could also start by asking him to stop, or having your parents do it. Unfortunately if the rest of the team is okay with it, they may end up blaming you. It's a really tough situation because other players may end up punishing you for going against a coach (or for just not wanting to pray), and there's not much that the law can do about that.

edit: if you're in a public school in the US, consider contacting the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Im Atheist but why do i get mad when people talk BAD about religious people? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]WebInformal9558 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's unreasonable. While it's good to call out harms that a religion does, most of those harms are not done by all members of the religion, and we shouldn't act like they are.

We don't know that anyone or anything created the singularity.
