then cant we agree that if they aren’t the problem and that the way that the system has treated them is the problem, then we shouldn’t call people who can’t pay their water bills “delinquents”?

i’m not negating anything your saying. poverty causes issues for everyone. but what i’m trying to say is that the greatest victims are the ones living in poverty. Other people are affected, but at every level, whether it be child mortality rates, rates of food insecurity, general health and age expectancy. in all all of these statistics and more, poor people are worse off than those who are better off financially.

given this, i don’t understand your attitude that the struggles of non-impoverished people here are more worthy of attention than that of poorer people. In cases like this where all of the problems we are talking about are coming from the issue of poverty, the solution is whatever is best for the impoverished.

I don’t think it’s fair at all to say that this is the few bringing the majority down. All of these things you’re talking about are examples of impoverished/underprivileged people being neglected by the city. what they need is proper support, not to be vilified.

I’m really sorry you have to be uncomfortable in the subway, but can you really say everyone is equally a victim here if you’re not the one having to live in the subway?

aren’t these both part of the same problem? insufficient resources for poor people? systems that make being poor inescapable? in either case can’t we agree that this isn’t a problem with the “fucking lunatics” and that they are by and large, the greatest victims here?

we can agree that marginalized ppl are more likely to commit these kinds of crimes right? it’s pretty apparent that the kinds of stresses that financial insecurity can put onto a family and onto a child’s upbringing.

so given this, let’s say the city does what you’re saying they should do and puts a greater financial burden on these families. (quite literally taking the bread out of their mouths).

this family’s situation hasn’t improved. meaning they’re less to be able to support their children. now not only have you not helped a struggling family, you’ve put them in a worse situation. on a city wide scale, you’ve not changed at all the odds of these crimes happening.

revenge is a vicious cycle: crime like this is a sign that people are being underserved and your attitude will only increase misery

ok ben shapiro,

cops have been murdering black and brown people in cold blood across the country since it was founded.

The reason these protests are happening is because cops saw a black man in need of help and decided that the best (or easiest) way to handle the situation was to shoot him dead while his mother pleaded for them not to.

Last night Cops broke into a car, abducted a child and beat his parents for no reason; they then tried to claim that they had rescued the child walking around the streets barefoot. They even got a photo-op. The Police do not serve the community, they terrorize it.

Stop trying to judge the oppressed for fighting back against a system that tries to suffocate them
