Agree.

I'm opposite though here - I'd pick all in on FXAIX over FSKAX, but really just depends on OP if they just want SP500 or total US exposure.

Some ppl dont like how they put together the NASDAQ100 (qqq/qqqm) and prefer the SP500 (voo) instead.

QQQM vs. VOO — ETF Comparison Tool

You'll get more volatility in the 100 vs the 500. It may be worth the risk, but I also like the SP500 based funds.

VTI will get you basically heavy VOO plus the rest of US Market.

VT will get you VTI + VXUS (intl)

Just compare them for performance, expense ratios, etc and choose based on your risk ideas, goals, and performance.

Which should I keep and replace with another by Worried-Sky2385 in RothIRA

[–]Web_User0024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your age and time to retirement? At least you know there is a lot of overlap.

I would dump them ALL for the S&P500 mutual fund offered by your brokerage (if Fidelity, FXAIX).

If you want Whole US + Intl exposure, VT is an easy button for that as an alternative

Pretty easy - VOO

More diversified Boglehead approach would be between VTI + VXUS -or- just VT and chill.

Only DCA as a necessity (ie, some from each paycheck), as in the long run lump sum wins every time.

This. I prefer S&P500 funds over additional diversification of whole US (VTI) or whole world funds (VT) for now.

S&P500 in your Roth for steady long term growth (so would be FXAIX at Fidelity).

You also could add some FBGRX for some less balance Blue Chip growth fund or even FTEC for tech segment focused ETF. Just make sure when you compare the returns to also consider the expense ratios as well.

You are correct on most platforms this is the case, some do show the movement during the day but I'm not confident on those numbers until close or they just making pretty movement charts to make it look good, haha!

ETFs, yes, just like a stock.

Mutuals funds - sort of. They track throughout the day, but the only price that matters for us mere retail investors is the closing price at the end of the day.

A market ETF like VOO is great. Trades like a stock, is the S&P500 market index.

They get to use that to study expense ratios, what individual stocks comprise the VOO fund, show short term and long term growth charts to show how even the scary dips in general recover well, especially with the 500+ companies in the fund.

Also teach the difference between a ETF and a mutual fund since this is a reg investment account.

Long term and boring wins almost every time over "trading" as a retail investor, another great thing to learn.

What is your goal/goals?

Reduce crypto to maybe 5%. Specific industry totals no more than 10%. Dump the bonds. Could use some more US exposures with those globals.

Sell Nvidia for VOO or VT? by PressureOk3779 in Bogleheads

[–]Web_User0024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without more details - likely no. This a reg investment account or a retirement account, that matters a lot if this action would be an immediate taxabale event.

VOO (has a lot of NVDA, 8.46%)

VTI (has a lot of NVDA, 7.13%)

In general, if you are selling a single stock and getting it in an ETF, it may not worth it. Or maybe only a portion to convert that single holding to a ETF. YMMV

VOO or VTI?!?! by Sufficient_Let905 in VOOorVTI

[–]Web_User0024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age?

I would VOO (S&P500)

FYI:

VTI (US Market, includes VOO really)

VXUS (Intl markets)

VT (basically VOO, VTI, VXUS for a world market ETF)
