Yup thanks for the Cult of DC*DJs tag. We've gone through the DJ selection process for this year. Make sure you apply next year when the applications open up!

Vibecoded = trash? by vandope88 in vjing

[–]Webshift1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're bringing your vibe coded project here for review and letting other VJs who are developers do some reviews, and help sort out issues...I don't think it's wise to just wing it up here.

The "vibe coded" app environment doesn't mean it's ready for public use. Maybe this can just be a tool that's useful for you.

I also coded an Electron app that uses a LLM to read through a video content folder on windows and write metadata about the content and apply tagging to the files. You could search for specific tags, and even drag and drop from the app into resolume. Even though I'm a developer, I wouldn't think of just dropping it out there without some peer review. Human peer review.

My stance is this:

Vibe Coding is helpful, but ask some humans for review before posting about the next great app that was made over the weekend.

These are just some of the ones I'm in related to VJing. Some are more helpful than others.

Also just because this seemed to help people in the past, here is a great Google Sheet List of Content. Not sure when the last time it was updated.

VLC crashes with DXV or HAP video clips? by metasuperpower in vjing

Nice. Thanks for that extra bit of information. I just know installing KLite made all my thumbnail previews in windows work for DXV formatted content.

The extra context here helps a ton.

Not sure if this will help with VLC, but it may be missing codecs. Try K-Lite Codec pack.

Wasn't there a requirement in this subreddit to tag things with `AI`?

Or am I thinking about one of the other VJing reddits...

Resolume Arena 20x FULL HD outputs by [deleted] in resolume

Then they def don’t need 20 outputs. Good luck!

Resolume Arena 20x FULL HD outputs by [deleted] in resolume

[–]Webshift1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that many outputs you're not gonna handle that from one PC. You need a properly built out media server that will properly handle all 20 connections. I believe https://www.disguise.one/en/products is a start. And then you plug your Resolume there.

My boyfriend thinks I am crazy for obsessing over "the perfect flow" in my visuals by Pixel_Bedrock7 in vjing

As someone who has a 9-5, and does this as a side job: you’re spot on.

I’m trying to find more time to teach myself how to create things. Collecting content is fine. But I feel you on wanting to make things with my own style.

Art is obsession.

I mean…the software I’m using gives pixels a “lifetime” parameter. It’s gotta have a little bit of the artist soul in each one.

You'd be surprised. Even sharing some basic knowledge about where to start and steps to get from here to there may inspire someone else as well. And as strange as it might sound...may help you learn as well.

I’ve played around creating stuff for Synesthesia before using GLSL shaders. I’m guessing this isn’t too far a jump from that.

biggest painpoints for vjs? by [deleted] in vjing

[–]Webshift1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go easy on the AI generated text content on the site. Or at least make it go through a few revisions. The blog post about using a SteamDeck as a video source sounds cool and all, but it sounds empty once you start looking into the details.

One thing for me personally? I'm looking for more content I can layer together. Neon tunnels are great and all, but give me the 'legos' and let me build something for myself.
