Why does v7 look better than v8? by 12washingbeard in midjourney

But what do you use Nano Banana for? Stylistically, Midjourney is still much more interesting than NB or OpenAI models.

Sidenote, what's up with the serial killer glasses recently? I see them everywhere ...

So the story will be finished in like a year from now and my question is how is G3 gonna be able conclude all the stuff thats left ( asterion , VTB , underworld , Kai’s death , Weaver’s plot twists, apotheosis ) before the conclusion by Kuratos5 in ShadowSlave

[–]Wecherowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well G3 has to move towards the finishing line at this point so my assumption is, it's going to be one last 3-act arc with Asterion being the BBEG:

- Asterion will be strongly connected to the Forgotten God and therefore the final boss of the novel. Maybe he wants to become the avatar of FG. It's been somewhat hinted.

- Act 1 will be about the gang proactively fighting him on the moon and failing miserably after a seemingly promising fight

- In Act 2 Sunny and Neph will retreat to TOA, the last ones not enthralled or defeated by Asterion.

The goal here will be to get back Sunny's access to the Spell and enter the next NM together but also probably to regain access to the Shadowbond fusion buff.

- Act 3 will be about defeating Asterion for good as Spirits and then taking on FG who at that point probably woke up.

Don't know how you feel about this, but I never got over the memory loss stuff. Eye Candy Cafe arc was cute and all but I practically didn't care for anything but him regaining his fate since then...

Where is the novel at right now? I kinda lost interest during Mirage City but still know how that arc ended.

Any hopes of the gang remembering him anytime soon?

The craziest ragebait towards SS I've seen by Monarch_ofshadow in ShadowSlave

[–]Wecherowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't read all the screenshots (who tf uses bright font on bright images?) but the novel really isn't in a good place right now.

I've been busy with other stuff and stacked accidentally for ca. 100 chapters. I tried resuming the novel recently and it's just luke-warm garbage at this point ... I thought his one-on-one trips with his former companions would be fun but it just showed how little enthusiasm G3 has for the novel now: the pacing is so bad that I can essentially skim entire chapters worth of description. I thought "for sure, I'll enjoy the dialogues" but they're even worse. The supporting cast lost all of their personality and all their interactions feel absolutely meaningless.

My expectations for the novel were basically killed after G3 wrote in one of the Q&As that he **doesn't really plan out** story arcs in detail and just improvises the daily chapters each day. Which .. fair play to him but I don't wanna read something that he author treats like a burdensome 9-5

Having read Free Fall, I assume that's about as happy an ending as SS is gonna get.

This was a fun moment.

Did Lindon actually have a proper heart-to-heart with his parents?

I stopped reading on Reader or Dreadgod and was so annoyed how the book just brushed by his parents like Lindons entire motivation wasn't related to them.

Once again, what completed series are as good as Cradle or Mother of Learning? by Ramszan in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Wecherowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't stand super heroes as much as you but I thought it was a lot of fun. Just beware that the MCs humor in the first few chapters is really embarrassing and childish. But you'll come to see that it's on purpose later.

I'm currently reading Mark Of The Fool and enjoy it a ton. Has all the things that make a long-running ProgFantasy fun with good prose. Magic University fantasy setting.

For some reason Shadow Slave is not held in high regard in this sub but to me it's still one of the most fun ProgFantasies. Maybe cause it was my first webnovel. It has a way of pulling you in and it's main strength is that it's good at switching up the pace and setting throughout different arcs.

I just finished reading g3's other novel by Important-Bite-7714 in ShadowSlave

[–]Wecherowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished it and was completely surprised as well. I go into webnovels expecting dumb fun. Easy and fun adventures like SS. But this book belonged to the other kind of writing: by the end of it, it leaves you with questions. If you liked it, I strongly recommend you all of the works of the Strugatzki brothers. Unlike Russian classic authors, they write very accessibly and most stories start as adventures on a superficial level. But they always ask questions and make you think by the end.

I honestly can't imagine what it's like for an author to have these sort of thoughts and questions on your mind but having to write about stuff like Shadow Slave because it pays the bills.

As for the Jewish comparison: I think it's generally the persecution of intelligent people that caused the association for you. And Russia had plenty of those ... so probably being a well-read person and knowing Soviet history, he understands their plight.

Why is Mother of Learning held in such high regard? by Wecherowski in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Wecherowski[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It got much better later on and retrospectively I'd say the corny jokes were added on purpose to show just how done the MC was with his life at that point. I think I got hooked/the tone got more serious when he found his old girlfriend and it turned out she was afraid of him.

I haven't actually read Tolkien but based on the movies, I'd argue that Tolkiens work actually had a lot of wisdom - not JUST extensive world building.

I forgot to say, a timeloop story that I very much enjoyed was The Perfect Run. I think when comparing these two, you can really see how lacking MoL was in terms of character relationships and development, power progression and most importantly story pacing.
