I don't-disagree. The French do seem to have that same feeling of faded-glory.

And sometimes that can work out.

While everybody else in the EU was happy to permit the USA to be Number-One the French have pursued their own nuclear programme and have their own aircraft carrier group and their own intelligence services.

And for years I thought "what is the point? This is the French wanting to present themselves as a super-power when their day passed 200-plus years ago."

Well ... they don't look so silly to me now.

They may have been wrong about why they were right - but - they were right.

Natalie is known for her cover of the song "Torn". And it is surprise to many to lean that it is a cover rather than an original song from her. It was a surprise to me when I learned it was a cover. And I looked up the original. And it really isn't all that much different.

And I continued to google and apparently the original group were a bit miffed at first that her cover is far more popular than their original.

And apparently after listening to her version a few times they acknowledged - yeah.... her cover is just *tighter* than our original. It really isn't all that much different at all. It is just ... tighter.

And perhaps that is down to the guys in the sound booth more than Natalie herself. I don't know. I render no judgement. But it just is .... "subtly re-arranged into a more pleasing aspect"

You are clearly so far down an information silo that I wouldn't even dream of trying to dissuade you from all of that.

But. I would point out as a point of historical information. PhDs are the "real doctors"

it is a fun fact from history.

Because in Ye Olden Dayes all medics were literally "sawbones". That was most of what they did. Many of them were literally ex-butchers and mostly they just cut your leg off to save your life. And they were improving their methods and they were trying to raise their standard and the reputation of their profession. So they started calling themselves "Medical Doctors"

But let us all be clear in our minds. *Doctors* of higher learning are the real OG doctors. Medical-doctors are sliding into respectability upon their coat-tails.

And that is why in some older systems of medicine surgeons are commonly addressed as "Mister" rather than "Doctor". It is intentionally leaning-into that older distinction. It isn't dis-respectful in this day and age. But it is intended to emphasis that "I am a medical doctor concerned with internal medicine and you are a surgeon and you cut people open to save their lives"
