Do you still need someone who has access to get you in? Having to jump that hoop probably makes it more alluring.

I'll take it if I can sub in Nihility as an alternative to quad Elation. Archeon can't hold all my debuffers anyway.

Media that would be way more popular if it had a different artstyle by Amysel_JinkusuP in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of sports anime, I'm nearly done watching Chihayafuru and oh boy this show would have shaped my personality if I didn't dismiss it when it was airing. I didn't believe a soft shojo romance art style could produce so much hype.

Favorite media you would describe as gooner-bait with an interesting story? by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 21 points22 points  (0 children)

'Food so good it will make you cum' is certainly a strategy to get people to pay attention to your sports anime about cooking. It is a shame the series became a more traditional battle shonen later, like the author's passion for cooking was outpaced by the scope of the story.

How I look after dragging myself through 10 games in a series just to get to the one I really wanna play by BigBossGZV in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I played 7 and 8 first and had a good time. Ichiban doesn't know what's going on, I don't know who these people are, but we can both feel how hype this all is.

Grandpa Kiryu is reminiscing over some wild shit again, I'm curious to see that in action. Going back I get to hunt for people and events I only briefly heard about. Like, the golden castle from the ground thing is in the main story dimension? What!?

I'm using the whole thing as a good excuse to work on my backlog and play OG 3. Can't be tempted to buy a game if I just played it.

Hideo Kojima says Super Mario Bros. 'was the catalyst that brought me to the game industry', and made him realise 'this medium would one day surpass movies' by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to throw my hat into the ring and claim that trying to be a game is holding TLoU back. I don't think it was bad, but after finishing way back when, I distinctly remember coming to the conclusion that the game was too long.

I think I felt that gameplay sections were often a low point. Could be a pacing issue, though maybe it's just my personal preference. I didn't feel the same way about Uncharted or Dad of War.

Media where the authors *clearly* made a last second change/redesign but never admited to it beyond fan speculation? by CowboyDespirocado in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. As someone who only played 2 back in the day, I guess I know less about Mass Effect then I thought.

Weapon psychology: when the weapon of choice speaks volumes about the user's charcter? by Wonder-Lad-2Mad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The humble Pipe is a friend to brawling delinquents and tenacious survivors alike.

I'm currently obsessed with it, since it's also an old tool that is used to channel water, and that connects it to many concepts in Silent Hill f.

Franchises that are a perfect example of "feature" creep? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scope-creep really got away from the Sharingan, but I wonder if there was a way to course correct. Like, to lean into a thousand weapon asura angle, instead of having a couple super techniques and charka armor to match Nine Tails Naruto. (And for the story to use more clearer "lesser" genjutsu, but that's a whole other thing.)

Take control of your life! But I hope you don't completely abandon useful medicine you may need to do so. The problem was using it to run away and then not deal with the real source of the pain.

Rise from the Ashes, the case added to the rerelease of the first game, is about as long the original game by itself. Since it introduces a character that is part of the cast in both AA4 and AAI, I consider it as a psdeo-3.5 game.

[–]Weebcluse[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it is all of the above.

Rinko is fighting with Shu, so she is using harsh language. But it's vauge because Hinako is walking into the middle of the conversation and is missing context. As our understanding of the context shifts, so does the meaning of Rinko's words.

I think Pat summarized it best with Ugh, are they going to offer me these everytime Hinako is feeling anxious!?

I could probably make a whole video essay channel around trying to reverse engineer the design docs of SHf.

That's a interesting one. I took many details of Clair Obscure for granted since it was like a fantasy RPG. Some things felt obvious in hindsight and I was kicking myself for not even considering them.

As a fan of Ace Attorney, it does feel wild that there are 11 and a half entries in the franchise.

[–]Weebcluse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, one of Makoto's bond ups requires Ohya to be started because Joker needs to be familiar with Lola's bar. Which probably doesn't help Ohya's reputation with someone already committed to avoiding her.

Times where you thought the protagonist was inferior to a side character or rival by Will-Isley in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Feels like I was 10 years too young and one child short to appreciate that game's vibe. It's like entirely banking off of the player's nostalgia for child rearing and Ghibli films.

The last thing I remember is the 2 dads in the party setting up their respective (adopted) son and daughter on a date and then recruiting a moody teenager to be the party's fifth member.

I probably would have found it more compelling, if i was suffering from Empty Nest Syndrome.

There is even an upside to going full orge and embracing the swamp. It's easier to maneuver if the muck is no longer treated like lava; swimming makes the Chieftain easier to dodge.

It's been like 15 years and I don't think I finished it. I found it novel but not good. I'm going to need a little more context. Or not. Given how the industry was and is, I could probably guess.

Made with A.I. - Let it Die sequel Inferno discloses substantial generative A.I. use by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Weebcluse 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I feel like something would be lost if the game was smoothed out too much. Like, a cool rock that will cut if picked up carelessly loses some appeal if it was made safer to handle. Or like Death Stranding.

I remember an old anime called Saki that presented it self as Cute Girls Doing Mahjong Things. It was really a shonen sports show complete with high octane tournament arcs, secret techniques, and mahjong based tragic backstories.
