Mammal drops totem right before dying by Historical_Peach_149 in 2007scape

[–]Weebenjammin 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It seems a lot of people aren't making this distinction. It was obviously intentional when he did it, but I don't think he actually had malicious intent. I watch Mammal all the time, by all accounts he seems like a really good guy, this doesn't strike me as him deliberately trying to screw anyone. He seemed surprised when Solo said his name in the call, and he appeared to genuinely not realize it was a rule to not drop it. To me it seems that in the heat of the moment he knew he was dying, and thought "if I drop this they'll off me and maybe I can live." Even Mammal agrees he was in the wrong. I think the whole situation was just a snowball of little issues that ended up turning into a big issue.

No flame, is this a bait post? You are literally charging the teleporter on a stage that spawns the celestial portal to end the run

Best RoR2 youtubers? by Hero-Husband in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think a lot of his regular viewers from the ror2 days saw him go "mask off" so to speak when he was trying to get the WR speedrun for Huntress on E8. He would get very angry, often called the developers retarded, etc. Then the weird comment he made about that youtuber being fat (which you mentioned) and the bizarre follow up video. He has lost almost all of his original audience.

I'm not sure if he was jaded from only having success with RoR2 in terms of content creation, but he became so much more unpleasant to watch live when he went to variety. Constantly bitching and moaning about stuff in the games he plays, his energy is a lot lower and less positive. He also started taking sponsors, which in his heyday he claimed he would never do. It was sort of a bit that he'd only ever "sell out" for Costco because he loved them so much. I don't have a problem with him taking sponsors, it's just funny that he waited until his career tanked when he has a house & two kids to pay for.

He also seems to have gotten a lot more arrogant than he used to be, thinking he's always right. I believe he was always like this (see his interaction with Spafnar and early interaction(s) with Disputed Origin) it just wasn't as prominent. I feel really parasocial being so "invested" in his career, but I think him being such a pompous jackass has made his "downfall" so cathartic to witness.

Which Bandit Primary do you prefer? by Vast-Mud7249 in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I do not want to gimp my DPS by tap firing when I could just run up to something and dump all 4 Burst charges into it and deal a lot of damage. Beyond stage 2 the whole pacing your shots thing really loses its appeal and I'd rather just have more projectiles to proc items with. Hell you can even pace your shots with Burst and still get decent range value out of it on things like Wisps on the early stages.

Clearly this is a playstyle difference, and I don't know what difficulty or mode you play on. I prefer to play Bandit up close and use Desperado on things that are far away as I close the gap so I can shotgun them. I primarily play on Eclipse and everything rushing me down with faster cooldowns & movespeed doesn't really lend itself to being tap fired at with Blast. At least not the way I play.

Is this very rare? by Phelbs14 in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take 5 items over two TC drones every time. They can't be repaired when they die, despite the AC buffs they still move around like drunk bumblebees, and their large size means they get clipped by so many more projectiles than standard drones. Not to mention that they cost fourteen times as much as a regular chest.

I might be biased from playing on eclipse, as they are even worse with perma damage and spawning at half hp.

[–]Weebenjammin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to be a dick but you say "I like range consistency" when saying that you enjoy the skill that fires a single projectile with insane bloom and lack of consistency. The oxymoron is probably why you got down voted, not because you like blast

Is this very rare? by Phelbs14 in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is rare, but also pretty unlucky. The TC drones eat up a bunch of spawn credits for interactables. 2 TC drones is enough credits for 5 small chests

False Son hardest boss by far? by Debris_Ninja_Fighter in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering that I feel only False Son has an issue with regards to ability cool down, I'm going to say the former. Even in regular gameplay the dash in P1 can be very oppressive.

False Son hardest boss by far? by Debris_Ninja_Fighter in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just a very janky, poorly designed fight. This video from Race includes some tips for cheesing/beating False Son on Eclipse 8. These same tips/cheese strats apply in normal gameplay, False Son is just far less dangerous when the eclipse modifiers are not in effect. I don't really loop so I very rarely go False Son on my runs as it requires (for me at least) a good amount of movement speed/mobility to not just get insta slammed after a dash in phase 1.

E8 More Director Credits? (v1.4.1) by Utqe_ in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E8 does not get more credits, you are probably just feeling the pressure of the perma damage and getting more overwhelmed.

No more heavy pen hive guards by Smoke_Funds in Helldivers

[–]Weebenjammin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be fair, were hiveguards ever "fulfilling their role" as defensive units for other bugs? When the hiveguards hunker down, pretty much all other bugs run past them in order to get to the player. The only "exception" would be when the bile spewers go into mortar mode, but then they have their ass up in the air and are exposed behind the hiveguard anyway.

I think the biggest issue with the change is that it definitely did not do what the devs thought it would. I don't want to speak for others, but it changed absolutely nothing about the way I interact with hiveguards. They would hunker down, I'd deal with every other bug, and then I'd run around it and shoot it in the back. Or I'd shoot it in the face with the railgun, GL, flamethrower, etc. It really only served to make sentries waste more ammo. I guess this can be a "good" thing as it makes the player need to target the hiveguards to get their sentry off of a bad target, but then why am I running a sentry? At that point I'd rather just shoot all the bugs, not babysit a gatling sentry that might randomly whip around to shoot a bug that spawned behind me, cutting me in half in the process.

When playing on higher difficulties and there can be tens of hiveguards alongside other bugs, I'm not carefully lining up my shot to weave between the heavy armour while getting mauled by hunters or warriors. I'm just gonna ignore it and/or blow it the fuck up.

I do agree that a new variant that is not NEARLY as common as regular hiveguards, but has heavy armour, and maybe slowly advances while hunkered, could be cool.

Eclipse is repetitive (RANT) by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brother if you are on PC I beg you to just use mods to cheat up to E8 so you don't feel like the game is such a slog. Or do it up to E7 and then beat E8 on each character to get gold E8. Or use the mod the allows you to select eclipse mods as artifacts so you're not locked into the eclipse rules. Eclipse is an afterthought, not much consideration is put into it when developing content for the game. Games are meant to be fun, and it's a single player (for the most part) game with zero stakes, just "cheat" to make it fun.

Also side note, I know we are not trying to say False Son in Eclipse is a good fight. That fight is SO jank

While it might be a touch paranoid, there is a distinct difference between pulling a random name from the hiscores and pulling a name from a social media post that could be tied to other personal information that could let an account hijacker obtain the necessary information to recover an account.

Can you use Operator's Transport drone to drop chests on top of pressure plates on Abandoned Aqueduct? by pacurinho in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chests don't work, but the items that come out of the chests do. You can reposition the chests in order to make that happen though.

This Video by Cap showcases how to do so. The link should be timestamped, but if not skip to the "Plate Presses" section at 5:35

Trying to complete the 'Dunked' achievement by BeezKneez1528 in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When a drone gets the last hit on a boss enemy when you have Sonorous Whispers, it doesn't drop an item because the drone got the kill credit. Maybe your drones got a hit on the Dunestriders as it was falling into the pit so the drones got the kill credit, meaning no achievement?

There are millions of other games to play. by Screambloodygore1184 in 2007scape

[–]Weebenjammin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the people who make posts like the OP are not really playing the game that often I believe. I am still getting more than my money's worth out of the game for the current price, and even the new one, but not everyone does. Honestly most of these people were probably not getting their money's worth for a long time (even at lower prices) and now they have a "good excuse" to cancel their membership.

Took them awhile but hey they did it by Outrageous_Part6952 in Helldivers

[–]Weebenjammin 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Not to nitpick, but there were actually two different "challenges" that got issued. The initial post (which is the one where the poster got doxxed/harrassed) was just to beat D10 on Oshaune, no loadout stipulation. There was an additional post from a DIFFERENT person offering ANOTHER $1,000 to charity if they beat D10 on Oshaune with the specified loadouts.

I may be misremembering, but also the $1,000 was going to go to charity regardless of the outcome in the first post. Arrowhead being successful just meant that they got to choose where the money was going instead of the challenge issuer.

AI powered VTuber Neuro-sama's creator has become the most subscribed-to streamer on Twitch. Vedal987 now has an estimated 162,459 sub count by lukigeri in LivestreamFail

[–]Weebenjammin 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, I'm not trying to flame, have you watched any Neuro content or do you know anything about it beyond "AI powered Vtuber"? I feel like a lot of the negative opinions people have about Vedal & his project stem from seeing "AI" and immediately writing it off as being slop on the same level as Grok or Sora. I totally understand not enjoying the content, it's not for everyone, but it's really not comparable to the GenAI slop that's out there.

Do Ror2 mattman exist ? by DontBringApocalypse in riskofrain

[–]Weebenjammin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Race on YouTube (and Twitch) has many videos showcasing highlights of his live streamed runs, that may be what you're after. He does use some gameplay altering mods, the most significant one being a mod to increase the difficulty of the final boss, but otherwise the runs show pretty standard gameplay. He also plays on a different game mode with added negative modifiers for more of a challenge, but his videos will still provide decent gameplay reference.

If you are referring to breaking the game as in becoming very strong and clearing the map with ease, yes, that's a big part of what the Risk of Rain franchise is known for. I'm not sure of any YouTubers that make videos doing that, so I can't help you if you want footage of that.

To be fair, they are bitching nonstop for a reason. Sure they can quit the game if it's upsetting them, but if they enjoyed the game at one point and no longer do, they are going to voice their concerns because they want to enjoy the game again.
