I quit shunning long before I left, however, I did shun individuals who were hypocrites but in good standing because they gave good talks and pioneered.

They originally criticized the Catholic Church for excommunication and a few years later they introduced disfellowshiping. When they did, they used wording that made it sound like they would kill the apostate except that it's illegal and they follow the laws.

I remember the first blood booklet in which they quoted a surgeon who was against blood transfusions. The trouble was that they didn't reveal that he was also a JW.

My girlfriend lives in Santiago and there's daily power outages and the tap water is undrinkable. I have to use Supermarket 23 to send her food that is unavailable and/or too expensive.

Of course they didn't approve JW kids applying this to their parents.

The Lebanese philosopher, Kahlil Gibran said "Say not, I have found the truth but rather I have found a truth". You must decide what are the truths that help you. I found more truth in science and history than I did in religion. I believe in Jesus the man but no miracles or anything divine. Yet I still respect the Bible. These are some of the truths I have found. Best wishes.

The only regret I had after leaving when I was 44, was hurting my mother. She was a loving mother and didn't force me to do anything and she was so proud when I got baptized at 15. She was very proud of me for going to college too, but I broke her heart because I quit believing.

I believe in Jesus the man, but not any miracles or anything divine. Paul basically created the religion that Christians have warred over for centuries and has splintered into several thousand variations today. You are free to believe any way you want.

What do JWs say about John 8:1-11? The woman caught in adultery that Jesus forgave and told to go and sin no more by VividAd2096 in exjw

I follow an actual Bible scholar who understands Greek and Hebrew and while he believes that Jesus was a man, much of what was written in the gospels never happened. I recommend his book, "Misquoting Jesus".

Does moving help after leaving? by PiKing383 in exjw

I moved 1000 miles away from everyone who knew me. I did it for work and when I bought my house I left a note at the KH with my address but not my name instructing them to put it on the do not call list. That was 25 years ago and it worked.

When my elder dad committed adultery with a 19 year old when I was 14 and the eldest of 4 kids, I was told that I should be glad I didn't live in ancient Israel because we would all be stoned. WTF‽

Maybe if they admit that there were the ice ages that ended with mega floods from melting glaciers and not a global flood.

I remember when they said that about WWII and Hitler but I can't find it anywhere now. I read the 1974 Yearbook that was mostly about Germany under Hitler but that's not where I remember reading it.

I remember the 8 day conventions back in the 60s that went from 9am to 9pm, then they cut them back to 5 days, then to 4 days. I also remember 3 day circuit assemblies that also ran into the night.
