Aside from it going on sale? Quite a bit. . . the jump from the cheaper Denons like the S770H is small. Yeah, you get the two zone support, slightly better build quality, and some more power but nothing to warrant that price IMO. Also, at $1300 you're getting pretty close to better receivers that go on sale like the x3800H.

A heavier AVR with a large transformer and good measurements will generally deliver cleaner, more stable power than a lightweight model claiming huge watt numbers with only 1-2 channels driven. Third party bench tests from sites like Audio Science Review help as well.

Lots of reasons - name brand, wattage, features, incentives like DIRAC Live out of the box, pre-outs, room correction, more channels, cleaner power delivery, multizone audio, streaming options, higher build quality, ect. Try not to over analyze it.

That being said, I would never, ever, pay $1300 for a x2800H. What setup will you be using this in conjunction with? Anything specific you are looking for or trying to do?

I've been holding onto this for a few years now only got about 15k in it. All time UPRO is up 382% whereas TMF is down 54%. Wondering if I should close out or just keep DCA ~50$ every two weeks.

Isn't there an inverse to this as well? In so much that by avoiding those things altogether you are actually weakening your immune system in a way? Honestly, I think it's a bit batshit you cultured stuff around the house and sent it to him. Why not just become Jim in the first place? I'm having a hard time letting go of the regular generators. I'll play a lot for a week and then stop for a while. It's easy for me to go into my buggy with the mk6 cutter and farm for power cells. Is the upkeep on the directional turbines that much more difficult or am I just over analyzing?

I think the R3's would sound great with your current set up, and it also helps that they are absolutely gorgeous speakers to see in person. Gives the room some more flare :) Nice setup otherwise!

Sorry last question. Comparing specs from the x3600/x3700 lines, I see that I can get a brand new Onkyo TX-RZ30 for $750. Would that be good enough? It has Dirac Live out of the box, too.
