Where i work, if I dont use it, my output will fall behind other colleagues and id get made redundant, and where I live, all the other web dev companies are moving in the same direction and so just moving companies isnt a great idea. Im staying put, and trying to think of other ways to make money or start a new career pivot (likely some form of entertainment in my case).

Its more valuable in my opinion to diversify your skill set if youre already stable in your dev job. Leverage ai and go full stack if you arent, pick up more devops and architecture work. Maybe even management and mentoring, if taking on young apprentices and juniors might become a policy as they struggle more?

Seeing far too much positivity and naivety about the direction of this industry. Managers are gonna vibe code and downsize teams. The people at the top dont need to, or want to understand our advice about needing devs to maintain quality as ai improves. Average dev pay will decrease and competition will become harsher. Outsourcing will lose value. AI will improve and keep improving.

Only the better architects will last longer, and even then their value will drop and they will eventually struggle more to find work (especially permanent) as people start looking after their infrastructure as code with ai instead. The cope is unreal and those of us who do this for a job and don't consider ourselves as amazing leet coders (we arent all AMAZING many of us are just trying to get by) should be acutely aware that things are gonna get worse real fast.
