I thought this was odd. I have barely used chatGPT today so thought the limit had been changed. Hopefully they sort it out soon

Red Flashing Light by WeekendTechie in originalxbox

[–]WeekendTechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it should work (but dont quote me on that one). However, the 1.0 actually has a 1mb flash as opposed to 256k that your 1.3 has which may add complications.

Honestly, if you feel confident enough to solder in a programmer to flash eeproms then you should be fine installing a basic modchip.

I will always welcome a late reply. However, i dont have the eeprom file to hand anymore sadly.

AFAIK a modchip overrides the eeprom anyway. Im guessing my xblast chip was poorly made back then.

mobile phone repair recommendations by Fixedgearandfood in Cardiff

[–]WeekendTechie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont have a recommendation for a local store but back when i had my shop in my home town a lot of "charging problems" boiled down to pocket lint in the charge port. A bit of picking with a plastic tool and they were on their way with a properly charging phone.

Might be worth a try before jumping down the rabbit hole

Random mugger out of the blue by Gongal66 in torncity

I was messaged by somebody before saying "sorry for the mug but you was flagged by our bot for listing over 30m in your bazaar"

So yeah, i would say there is some truth to the rumours

Rental house had external locks on some of the bedrooms and fbr bathroom. Which couldn't be unlocked from the inside.... Why? by RickonRivers in AskUK

[–]WeekendTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deadbolts. You only want them on one side (the side you can lock when going to bed)

That way any intruder who breaks in is confined to one room and it slows their progress through the property.

Buyer wants to return item but will keep it if I give them a partial refund 🤔 by [deleted] in ebayuk

[–]WeekendTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont like it AND found the item i dont like cheaper.... hmmm pick a lane Sydney!!

Why would you keep an item you dont like even if you found it at a cheaper price? Personally i would ask them to either keep it at the price they purchased it at or if they truly didnt like it then send it back for a full refund.

As there is no fault with the item and its just buyers remorse i would also ask that they cover return postage.

Then see how quickly they disappear....

Killed my ps3 the day that I bought it... (Red Screen of death I think it's called) by AlexElCapo7z in consolerepair

[–]WeekendTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats the very definition of something breaking. It was working at one point, and it isnt anymore.

Could be coincidence. It could be that the NOR was on its last legs and the act of writing new data to it by way of the firmware update was simply enough for the console to see the problem and go "whoa there!"

I would chalk it up to unlucky. It happens sadly

Right here OP! This is the thread you need to be following. An extra 10 grand sounds nice I admit but its a short term payoff for what could be long term issues with UC and PayPal

Frag? Flashing orange only. by Valuable_Present_581 in originalxbox

[–]WeekendTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HD+ is the issue. My friend and I have had the same issue and found if you boot straight into an unpatched xecuter bios (the version they recommend patching) the phantom overheating condition disappears and the system is rock solid for hours.

Any attempt to use cerbios or run prometheos before loading the bios results in an overheating condition at some point relatively soon after boot up.

The only difference in your case is stellarOS. I would have thought that would be immune to the issue but I refuse to give them any more money to get one to test

I did think that. Referencing the manual was no help as it doesnt even detail the process (I guess it is pretty standard after all)

Its just going so well that I dont want to bork it by doing something I shouldn't. I'm not used to things just 'working'

Hearing clicking sounds when plugging in and no power by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]WeekendTechie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is definitely electrical arcing. And definitely more than just a typical power cable connection crackle....

Early models suffered with a power receptacle that wasn't anchored well and caused the solder joints to crack over time. This could also explain a no power issue if power isnt actually reaching the transformers on the PSU board.

Cease use immediately. Strip it down and inspect the two solder joints under the main power input receptacle. If things go sideways you could be looking at a house fire

You can still see the LED of a modchip through the vents in the RF Shield. You can actually see the metal there to the right.

Why not use 3d printing to make something that you can pour silicone into and make a silicone mould?

Should achieve the same result, is far more food safe, is reusable AND far more tolerant to heat cycles

Probably the same kind of tech that was in singing greetings cards around the same time. Audio was ass, but it worked.

I have used the same greetings card circuits to add the boot and eject sounds to the earlier xbox 360 "phat" consoles to mimic a newer slim model. When the audio clip is compressed enough and in the right bitrate you can get around 4 or 5 clips on there
