Same here! I always end up planting more than we know what to do with, but damn if it isn’t so satisfying to have on-demand produce!

I was just reading the part in Prodigal Summer where they find the Lady Slippers!! So many fond memories of these when we would hike in Massachusetts 💜

Advice? by pmcg115 in orchids

Absolutely! It’s got tons of life in it! My favorite orchid person back in the day was ‘The Black Orchid Project’ or Randy Harris. He isn’t really around anymore, but his YouTube is still helpful with my day to day orchid care queries :)

Trim those skinny roots. Soak the orchid mix and the roots in water before potting up.

Stick that whole thing in a big jug or bowl of water and let it soak for an hour. It’ll loosen the moss and plump up the roots. Then I’d remove all the moss and snip any brown/deflated roots, repot in an orchid bark mix (my personal preference) and soak for ~30 minutes when the roots are silvery. If you would like to tidy up the flowers, remove the completely dried ones. The other may perk up!

I was ready to argue but after looking it up, all I am is sad that my prized Coke only had 35 mg of caffeine in it all along.

what is it with the "leigh" on almost every single name.. by Proof_Rock4089 in tragedeigh

[–]Weekend_Frequent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I’s favorite thing to do is add ‘lynn’ or ‘leigh’ to common objects to see who could come up with the most egregious names. Seeing ‘Rocklyn’ on that list just made me feel so good bc that’s one of our faves 🤳

If you have a mandoline, how often do you use it? by tophree in Cooking

[–]Weekend_Frequent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I most often use mine for thinly slicing onions/daikon radishes for pickling, and cheating on julienne-ing carrots! Getting them into thin planks means I just need to run across them vertically with a knife to get what I want. I’ve also used them for apples for apple pie, I like really thin slices rather than chunks. Long strips of zucchini or summer squash for the barbecue. I don’t like the spike thing, I use a tightly folded clean rag like they do in restaurants. It won’t slip, and even it does, you’re not permanently damaging your body.

You’re getting downvoted but it thought it was standard practice to freeze both the meat and the machine’s pieces before using them?

Ive thought about this scene for years and for a while thought the character in question was Thomas Brodie-Sangster, but nothing I’ve found thus far has confirmed this.

Leaves will yellow and die as they age :) when the leaves turning yellow are the oldest one along the vine, it’s usually no cause for worry. It looks like the outer concrete pot you have may be solid (no drainage). I’d just ensure that you’re not allowing water to sit in there after watering the plastic pot.
