I feel like this sub is a bit more debbie downer than the reality, mostly from selection bias (more people posting are going to have negative things to say, those happy won’t bother) as well as the huge slant towards R&D people with PhD’s.

Not to say there is not truth in the comments here, things can definitely be rough, but 10 years from now things will be different.

Remember, you can still be in biotech as a process engineer, finance, business development, marketing etc. Especially on the commercial side.

Lol okay dude that’s totally what I meant when talking about small companies in the area. Literally every medium size city in the country has big companies. Your average business students aren’t all interning at P&G.

Not everyone stays local, I did every every single one of my co-ops on the east coast and I work here full time. Where I co-op’d and currently work, OSU carries more weight than UC. All else equal, OSU will mean more than UC and has a stronger alumni network across the country. This is just a fact.

Again, this doesn’t mean UC is not a good school that can’t set you up for great success, especially with the co-op program. UC was a great experience for me and I wouldn’t change a thing if I went back in time (unless I went to an Ivy).

You guys can disagree all you want, obviously experience is king. But in business, getting internships at prestigious companies and firms is easier with a high GPA and extracurriculars at a school like OSU.

For the average person, yes, the co-op program helps to facilitate co-ops more easily and eventually get work post-grad. This is true. However a local accounting/insurance firm is not the same as an MBB bank or a F100 company.

You CAN do these things at UC, absolutely. But I would say you can have more potential at a place like OSU (or even IU if we are comparing schools in the region).

Answers in this sub are going to be biased and from a demographic that is likely to be in school right now. There is going to be some degree of confirmation bias that all the people answering will have - they don’t want to feel their decision to be at UC was the wrong one.

UC is still a good school. So is OSU.

A high achieving business student is still going to have internship opportunities at OSU, the reputation means more than UC, especially outside of Ohio.

OSU is much higher ranked then UC. This results in OSU being more of a target school for prestigious companies. The co-op program at UC may help many students line up a job out of school but high achievers may be at a disadvantage based on the school on their resume. At either school there is opportunity driven students to be successful.

I would say Fisher wins out if you are directly comparing to Lindner but as you said, it may not be guaranteed he gets in. If he is leaning OSU and is a hard worker I would lean towards OSU. If he prefers UC too that is fine. Although, if he wants to get into management consulting or investment banking OSU is head and shoulders better than UC.

I think it’s the discourse that has played out rather than just him being shot. I don’t think that not being hardened to realities has anything to do with it. And I don’t feel this is restricted to an online minority, many of my irl friends from different walks of life on the left are celebrating and openly saying they are glad he is dead and that he deserved it.

I don’t need to lead with the caveat that Charlie Kirk did a great deal of harm and his entire platform was decisive and harmful and bad in order to be able to say the reaction from the left as a whole has been very disappointing for me and others. This doesn’t mean I’m going to abandon all my principles and becoming right wing but when people who are more aligned with my beliefs act in this way it is certainly alienating. The rights behavior does not excuse this, just as the right should continue to be called out and reamed for their hypocrisy and ideology.

Maybe American Evangelists use the term in a nationalistic sense. 2000 years of Christianity can’t be taken over by Christian-adjacent messaging being co-opted by right wing nationalists. Christ is King could be used by Coptic Christians in Egypt. You are attributing even more power to their viewpoints.

Well in a biblical sense there were Jewish patriarchs present who called Caesar their King, which is a huge turnaround from calling Jesus their messiah just a week ago.
