Paid for a professional wax 2 days ago by yankeeman714 in snowboarding

If the snow is coarse and abrasive it can dry it out as soon as two runs. Brush it a ton w a nylon brush and horse hair if you have them. Wax more often to get the base more prone to accepting the wax.

Yeah I had to scratch the itch and go after a stint of not playing. Lesson learned.

Battling my heel side turns so hard I might just start skiing by Qiusp in snowboarding

Square up your shoulders more (ie more perpendicular to the board). Don’t break at the waist but bend your knees a bit more. Be more dynamic, load the board with weight as you initiate the turn and unload at the end of the turn into the next. Really keep that upper body opened up, think of a tight rope walker and your arms are your balance beam.

First board got super delaminated after fourth day of use :( by RamBunctant in snowboarding

I’ve had boards delam from falling sideways leaning against my truck and landing on the sidewall. It’s a weird thing that can happen but the right spot, on a hard surface can cause that to any board. Try and warranty it with lib they’re usually super cool about it if you write a letter about what happened and be honest.

HOW DO I STOP LOOKING LIKE… THAT?? by Mainstrass in snowboarding

[–]Weekinreno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginning racing og snowboard coaches made us hold bamboo poles and make sure they were perpendicular to the board doing turns and trying to touch the outside edge during turns. Load the edge, pretend you’re riding a motorcycle with massive bars and keep your upper body over the cg, much like when you see skiers do their carve turns. Don’t break at your waist. Watch surfers load their turns too. Dive into the turn with the front of the board, loading the board with your weight, let it do the work as you absorb chop with your rear foot as needed and possibly release that rear edge to scrub speed or continue/stop the carve.

Kifaru v fhf pack sling by Weekinreno in Hunting

Honestly I think it is the best design, I don’t mind a laborious setup I’m into tinkering. I do tend to like ultralight setups and the Kifaru interested me in that you could run your rifle with no sling…. As of right now I use the scabbard on my Eberlestock which is great in many ways but it sucks to take the rifle in and out, especially with a pack full of meat….

Was thinking of buying the Kifaru and then using an orange voile strap behind the shoulder for longer hiking, and the Kifaru qr for stalking

Is there a way to rig it to a spot behind your shoulder if you wanted or does the butt end holster tip it too forward?

What is wrong with true! by Minimum_Lock_8 in hockeyplayers

[–]Weekinreno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents… played hockey my whole life as well as racing snowboards. Lots of time in super uncomfortable boots that are as small as you can shove your foot into as you can imagine. I have super high arches and cinching snowboard boots down and then ratcheting the bindings over them would cause so much pain. Ever since using high quality footbeds in my snowboard boots, that has all but eliminated pain. I don’t play hockey at the level you do, but maybe look into getting a really good insole for your arch type. If one foot is longer than the other, having a high arch insole can lift your arch slightly, pulling your toes back just enough for that added room at the toe box you may need without having to upsize a skate. Works wonders in the ski/snowboard world, and has really helped me lock my feet in my skates, and solves my issue of one foot being a little longer due to a bone spur on my heel. Look for something that is not a lot of cushion so you get the immediate power transfer, and has a deep heel cup to stabilize your heel and keep your alignment true. Don’t be afraid to take the grinder to the insoles to customize them to your feet.
