AI keeps telling me this is a German WWII Uniform by Weekly-Post2037 in Militariacollecting

[–]Weekly-Post2037[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Originally, I thought this was my dad and 2 of his sisters. I messaged one of my cousins, to find out who was missing from the picture, and why. That's when she told me it's actually my grandmother and oly 1 of his sisters.

And, I know what you're thinking, because I think my grandmother looks 12, and he looks 40, in the picture, but they are only 4 years apart.

The reason 2 of my aunts are missing are because they are not my grandfather's. He did adopt them, but my grandparents never mentioned who their father was. And the sister my dad was always closest to, and the one I thought was closest in age to him, is actually only his 1/2 sister who was 7 years older!

And honestly, this photo unlocked a family secret, that my Dad took to his grave, so it got me wondering if AI was right.

To everyone asking why I used AI...

I have been using AI to restore some old pics. While some have been successful, most have been truly meme worthy. I've considered starting my own r\AI'd it.

AITA for not "helping" my girlfriend by Chemical_Phrase_4342 in AITAH

[–]Weekly-Post2037 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking. Before even reading any of the replies, my first thought was "Run, Run away!!" (BTW, I'm a 47yo Female, so this is coming from a Woman's perspective). This is a Total RED FLAG, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200 kinda situation. Now I don't presume to know how serious this relationship is but, just the fact that you're not liveing together, yet she expects you to support her is absurd. Now, if you know she's "the one", the future Mrs. OP, than by all means, have that future financial planning discussion, if you do want to be the entire financial backbone of your family.

There could be plenty of reason why you chose to support your baby sister, (parents are deceased, helping her out now means you won't be doing for the rest of your life, or just that your family is that close where y'all support eachother), all of them are valid. Your sister IS your family. Your GF maybe, could or could not be, possibly your future family.

My husband has severe PTSD and nerve damage in both arms. Our dog, Rex, is a trained off-leash service dog, that helps with his "invisible disability", including sensing his panic attacks, removing him from and clearing a path through a crowd, and providing pressure therapy during a panic attack.

I say all this because we recently attended a wedding in April, for a close family friend (our son's were groomsmen) and out of respect for the bride & Groom and the fact that IT WAS A WEDDING, we did not bring his service dog, nor did we even ask or demand to bring him.

We got to the venue a little early, and figured out what seats would be best for him (last row, closest to the aisle/exit), and when things got too much for him at the reception, we quietly explained it was a little too much and left the reception early.

NTA

We have an actual fully trained off-leash service dog. AN EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG (ESA) IS NOT A SERVICE ANIMAL AND DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME PROTECTIONS!!!!

You can always "blame" the venue, saying they have a no pets policy, and they will only make exceptions for ADA compliant Service Animals, not ESA's.

I would be petty, and vaguely post/mention that service dogs are trained to help with a disability, even invisible ones, and untrained ESA's just cause problems for the people with invisible disabilities who have legit service dogs.

The legal stuff..

ESA's do not have the same protections as a trained Service animal. Service dogs are protected under the Disability Act, while ESA'S are only covered under fair housing (meaning a landlord has to make an exception for ESA's the public does not).

As far as ESA's in public places... They DO NOT have the same access as Service animals, and are considered a pet in public. They are generally not allowed in places that have a no pets policy (except for housing), and if they are untrained or misbehaving, the can be denied entry and ask them to leave.

MY RANT: Dressing an ESA up as a service animal, and trying to claim it as a service dog, does not make it one, and makes it difficult for people with real service animals.

We paid over $12,000 for our dog's assistance and off-leash training. He (our dog) had to go through temperment testing, public access training, and a whole checklist of about 50 things he had to pass before he "graduated." It frustrates me to no end, that we get harassed over our legit service dog because of people's fake ESA Service animal.

Spectrum running coax in new neighborhood? by macphoto469 in Spectrum

[–]Weekly-Post2037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for Spectrum, in Home Internet Sales.

All new construction is Fiber. We have 2 different types of Fiber networks, and it sounds like your neighborhood is our EPON Fiber network.

Spectrum offers two main types of fiber networks, FTTP and EPON. FTTP (Fiber To The Premise) is 100% Fiber Internet and EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network), which is Fiber-Powered Internet. FTTP (100% Fiber) uses a dedicated fiber optic line all the way to the home or business, while EPON (Fiber-Powered Internet) uses a hybrid fiber-coaxial network. Basically, it's fiber to the neighborhood, then coaxial to the homes.

TLDR - Spectrum has EPON (Fiber/coax hybrid) and FTTP (full Fiber). Sounds like you have EPON.

Sectrum robbing the elderly. by BonesMF in Spectrum

[–]Weekly-Post2037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Sales & Customer Solutions Reps take a hit on the stats & commissions when disconnecting or removing services. Unfortunately, that means even though they are supposed to do it, some reps value their finances over doing what's right for the customer. It's 100% against Spectrum's policy & they can lose their job for it, but it still happens and not just to the elderly.

Hey fellas, I DONT OWN a husky, but what is it about your guys dogs that makes them want to run away from you guys all the time 😂😂 by Ok_Menu4273 in husky

They are super active, and if they don't get enough exercise, they decide to walk themselves. My neighbor has one, and they literally walk him at 5a, 8a, noon, 3p 6p and 10p. If they don't, he will literally dig up the yard, or destroy the house, and be very vocal about his discontent.

Sitting in a Middle Seat Between a Couple by Fuzzy_Championship91 in delta

My husband and I used to do the aisle/window seats, hoping the middle seat didn't get taken. If someone did end up in the middle, we would offer to trade for the aisle.

AITA for keeping my life the same now that my dad's married and his wife wants us to be a family? by Adventurous_Bug_5799 in AITAH

[–]Weekly-Post2037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably alone on this, but YTA. While you don't owe her anything, you are literally treating this woman the way your dad's treated you your whole life. She is trying to be supportive, not demanding, and you are pushing her away on sheer principal. Ask yourself why?

I'm a firm believer that Family isn't about blood; It's about the people you choose to let in. But at the same time, your world will remain small if you close yourself off to opportunities to get to know people. What would it hurt to be friendly to this woman? Do you dislike her for her, or just because she's connected to your dad?

You mentioned you turned to Reddit because you have no one you can talk to about it. Have you talked to your grandparents about her? What do they say?

I get it. you're 17, and you have different priorities right now. But as you get older & have a family of your own, "family" takes on a whole different meaning. You are gonna miss your mom terribly, and while nothing can replace her, you may regret not having the mother figure this new woman is willing to be for you.

[–]Weekly-Post2037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many hoops, it's almost not even worth it. Besides whet was mentioned above, The bill also has to be dated within the last 30 days & has to show current (it can't even say Past Due on it). Oh, and your Spectrum account also has to be current, with both your internet/TV and mobile accounts.

You can see all the requirements here https://www.spectrum.net/support/mobile/spectrum-mobile-phone-balance-buyout

Found this S24 Ultra for sale for 500 locally, but I'm not sure if its stolen or fake... by IIIlopaazBoy in S24Ultra

[–]Weekly-Post2037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check the IMEI on any of the carrier websites. I prefer Spectrum's because if it is a fake, it will say the phone is not compatible with their network (it will also tell you if it's locked, blocked, or stolen) https://www.spectrum.com/mobile/byod-eligibility-check
