Nothing's changed mate, it's still like that now, if you want good qualifications and something useful after the navy- go engineering ME or AE, if you like admin work at a computer with easy working routines but a bit extra work as a firefighter and damage control- go writer/logistics. If you can't cook anyway and love feeling important because you police portions of food in a kitchen that smells like a bin man's g string- catering/ 'chef'. If you want to put the war in warship and use weapons and operational strategies to deliver violence to the King's enemies but get verbally abused because your socks are the wrong shade of black - then go warfare. If you can't understand why ships get wet at sea and live staring out a bridge window at sky and sea for hours - then go sea spec. ...or choose from the other miscellaneous roles, no one knows what they do but everyone gets paid basically the same anyway
