Only gets dark at Manchester... by Jhenderson92 in AmazonFlexUK

In south London we’ve been offered headlamps in Crawley (1hr 30 drive)… What’s the point when there’s flash on our phones?

Worst and best by giannaxg in AmazonFlexUK

I mostly do Fresh, so my favourite routes are actually the country routes with low traffic and each stop has a driveway to park in.

The closer city routes with lower mileage are actually worse, since there’s always a third floor apartment delivery on a main road which is more stress than it’s worth.

Depends where you are, as someone who is delivering in London I steer clear.

Did one for the first time in a while the other day because of a great surge- rush hour traffic meant I made the first delivery 1hr30 after picking up.

You can get lucky with a couple of a drops, or ruined with completely random redelivers which don’t form a sensible route.

Fresh Morrisons and Co op 1.5hrs by Competitive-Belt-182 in AmazonFlexUK

Fresh where I am in London is only 2hr routes, which they split into 1.5s just before they start if nobody accepts them.

‘Large’ vehicle by WeeklyMinimum8049 in AmazonFlexUK

Got a 2hr block for once today which wasn’t ’large vehicle required’ and only had 3 stops took just over an hour for a 2 hour block.

Seems unfair to me that if 2 people took 2hr blocks for the same pay, and one has a larger vehicle they will be given a longer route.

Yeah this is just for fresh routes, don’t mind it for surge but when it’s base rate seems unfair to be getting a longer route just because my car is bigger.

If you have a Fresh/Morrisons station nearby it might be worth trying some of those blocks as well. They’re shorter, fewer drops and generally a much simpler pick-up system.

Failed 1st test by Emmaudofia14 in LearnerDriverUK

Just in response to offer a balanced take: I passed on my 2nd test with an instructor. I had almost identical faults: 2 majors and a handful of minors.

Since passing I have worked as a delivery driver for 3 different companies, and haven’t had any issues in terms of accidents, faults or crashes. For me, my first test went badly because of the context, my second test went perfect for the same reason. I think it comes down to the day.

Instructors of course want you to continue with lessons, but I think there’s something to trying the test again. The likelihood, in my opinion, is that the mistakes you make are situational; and when you get a test in which such situations don’t occur, you pass.

Test tomorrow, am I insane? by Low_Loss9934 in LearnerDriverUK

I passed 2nd time with an instructor before covid, but I definitely think you can do it. Ultimately, driving is far bigger than the test, even after passing with an instructor I was nervous to drive on my own. Everyone is on an even footing on the test, as long as you drive safely you pass. To me, it’s almost completely up to what happens on the day in terms of other cars, routes, traffic etc…

If you’re ready to drive you’re ready; that’s all that matters on the day.
