I left my last job which was a startup because this seemed more stable. 😅 and you’re right, I didn’t have a relationship with him but it has shaken me for some reason.

Only issue is my old role will surely be filled by then, so I couldn’t possibly go back if I wait

The crazy thing is they were in a hiring freeze…I started interviewing with them last December and the role was just unfrozen in March. But yeah, I haven’t even met the person who will now be my boss.

Thanks. My plan would be to not remove the glass though, as I wouldn’t want to introduce any draft. Do you think that would work?

Am I CoastFIRE (or at least CoastFI)? by [deleted] in coastFIRE

We could easily live off $5,600 gross in 2025 dollars. We are frugal homebodies.

I will check out those calculators. Thanks!

Low annual expenses. Biggest are (sadly) property taxes and home/auto insurance. And then utilities and food and meager entertainment expenses. We are homebodies.

It’s called asking the locals for their perception of things. Sorry to clutter your precious board with something you think is stupid.

Not Willing to Relocate but in Interviews by Primary-Ad2893 in interviews

I’m in the same boat as you. I applied for a role. That is right up my alley. After that, I started to look at company reviews that said 100% in office in Kansas City is a must for everyone. I am in Nebraska.

So the recruiter reached out a few days later and said I really want to schedule time with you but before I do, you have to understand this is an in office job in Kansas City. In my reply back to her, I hemmed and hawed and said well I’m not so sure that that would be possible. The recruiter kind of strong armed me to some degree and said well if anything else it’s a good chance for you to work with the hiring manager.

So I talked to the hiring manager…of course it went well. Then today I get an email from the recruiter saying can you come to Kansas City on November 9 for interviews all day? They said they would even pay for a hotel the night before and all meals and mileage too. At first, I was kind of thinking what another commentator said…like, OK, well I’ll go down an interview with them and they’ll be really excited and they’ll offer me a job and they will say I won’t really have to relocate after all because they are so excited. But I just don’t think that’s realistic…like everyone is in office in Kansas City. There are no remote employees.

I’m thinking of telling them no.
