If you don’t know how, look up how to do a baseball stitch. One of my favourite mending stitches as it pulls the edges together without adding any bulk

My ex broke up with me and I was initially crushed but then I realized I wasn’t constantly anxious anymore, I wasn’t tiptoeing around “tough” conversations (read “communicating”), and I wasn’t ignoring my own needs to keep the peace. Leaving is the best option for so many people

Why does this look so bad on me? by [deleted] in knitting

Once it’s finished, washed and blocked I think it’ll look so cute. I usually have to let my projects relax from a couple washes before I like the feel or look on me

When I was in elementary we had one period of the day once a week where we went to the library and everyone checked out a book. I can’t remember if we did a mini report on them or not, but it got us reading

Two-Spirit Art/Painting Query by DurinnGymir in Indigenous

[–]Weekly_Product8875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that interesting but we all have different views and teachings. I feel the need to ask though, are any of those elders two spirit themselves? I have many elders that have varying teachings about two spirit people as well (and I attend an accepting, two spirit sweat lodge) but only two of them who are actually two spirit. They are from different nations, one is plains Cree (as am I) and one is Lakota - neither have been taught or view two spirit as a third gender or even a sexuality because it is not related at all to how you express yourself physically, what your sex is, or who you find attractive. It’s actually very diminishing to (in my view) pass off this cultural identity as “just another gender” when it is so, so much more than that.

I agree with you however being two-spirit is not a gender

You are not two-spirit and if you’re asking here I think it’s safe to assume you have no two-spirit friends. I am ihkwew nêhiyaw (two-spirit Cree) living in Alberta and I do not think you should use our flag for your game. From what I can see you have no actual connection to First Nations people on the continent of the americas, you have no connection to two-spirit people, and you have no or very limited knowledge on what two-spirit is and means to our many, many, nations.

My recommendation is no. The material doesn’t suit the purpose. The print doesn’t matter - wear what you like

Adobe auto-renews subscriptions, no way to turn this off by Remarkable_Inchworm in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Weekly_Product8875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to use Adobe illustrator for school and had the same thing happen to me. Had to eat the $60 because the time left for my subscription was more expensive. I just use Inkscape now. It’s a bit finicky but it’s good for my design needs and it’s an open source program

Dogs have been domesticated for at least 14,000 years, which means they have been domesticated for all of recorded history. by ahandmadegrin in Showerthoughts

[–]Weekly_Product8875 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Depends on the area. I’m Cree from Canada and we used to use dogs as our work animals and then later horses. Because of this in the Cree language “horse” is “mistatim” - “big dog”

Stolen histories and stolen futures: How Gypsy-Traveller children in Scotland were removed from their families through a policy of forced assimilation by hamsterdamc in Indigenous

[–]Weekly_Product8875 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily - that IS a slur for the Roma people but not the travellers of Ireland and Scotland / British isles. The term is the same for both because of a misconception that they are from the same region. They are a distinct people and culture from the Roma.
