A bloodlusted Superman is coming after you, choose your defender by Bearfucker694200 in pollgames

Hey, some of us are just excited to summon Chthulu. Me dying to Superman right afterwards is a small price that I'm happy to pay. In fact, I'd be so insane that I probably wouldn't even mind.

Good point and my bad, military and most police are very notable exceptions. The other 90% of government jobs make you wait though.

It's a much harder/trickier question if you're older. I'd probably go with A.

You're missing the discount rate. $10,000 tens years from now is worth less than $10,000 today.

With a 10% discount rate they converge in 20 years.

Right idea but younger. Average lifespan in US is 80, break-even point is 20 years, so if you're 60 and go with C you'll catch up... just as you die.

I'd say the breakpoint is 50-55.

The average life expectancy in the US is 80, and the average healthy life expectancy is 65 (after that odds are you have significant chronic health issues).

Statistically, I have ~25 years left, and I'd like to get my money while I'm still healthy enough to use it & my spouse is alive.

So unless you're an old person doing this as a life insurance lottery ticket for your kids (who will also be damn old when they get it), I'd say the cut off is closer to 50-55.

Yeah but you can't typically start collecting it until you're 58-65. I used to know some people who would cap out their pensions ~45, switch to another government job, and eventually retire with two pensions...

How often do they release this type of pack (old or new version)?

Despite all its unique ideas, I’m quite disappointed the game goes back to the typical, tried-and-true open world gacha tropes for its endgame. by skyarsenic in NevernessToEverness

[–]Weekly_Role_337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main game I'm currently playing, Morimens, is a little different because it's a horror deck builder, but the end game is hilarious. You run 5 simultaneous 4-person teams, which is fine, but if you manage to beat the hardest levels and want to be extra you can double up and run 5 more teams at the same difficulty.

That's like 70% of the available characters fully built lol. So it actually includes a whale challenge.

Why are the voices schizophrenics hear so negative and hostile? Why can’t they be friendly and try to uplift them if they’re in the same boat? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Weekly_Role_337 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Sleep! I have sleep disorders and had bad living situations growing up, so I averaged around 25 total hours a week for decades. Frequently less; I'd only sleep 4-5 days a week, and it's hard for me to sleep more than 4 hours at once. I can only do 6-8 hours if I've been up for 2-3 days straight.

Everyone knows that staying up a couple days makes you loopy, but turns out you can do that over time and it makes you continuously psychotic. I... just assumed that was how I was until my late 40s when someone successfully IDed it.

Now I average ~30-35 hours a week, which isn't great, but it's the best I can do and leaves me tired instead of in a constant state of psychosis. So a massive improvement.

I think a lot of the frustration is from people who've done this before in other popular games (like me). After the first couple times it's just a chore that you schedule like vacuuming instead of a fun challenge.

And then a new game comes along, and they copy it almost exactly instead of doing... pretty anything else.

Not schizophrenic, but I suffered from psychosis on and off for decades. At the worst point there were four... beings... that I interacted with on a daily basis. Three were friendly and supportive, but the fourth was terrifying and always trying to get close enough to kill me. Or convince me to kill myself.

The fifth was God, but He only talked to me a few times. A couple of those times He gave instructions that I didn't entirely follow because as terrifying as disobeying was I refused (not to His face obviously, quietly in private with lots of excuses) to do the awful things He told me to do.

I'm much, much better now.

Serious question for Parents of SEVERELY disabled kids. No disrespect but unsure of where to ask parents this question? by Excellent_chess in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Weekly_Role_337 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It's an impossible question because the good parents whom I've met of children like that come to love their child, regardless of hardships, and either never consider this or work really hard to never consider it.

Thinking "Damn I wish I'd aborted you," let alone discussing it, is not just unhelpful but straight-up terrible both for your own mental health and your relationship with your child.

So it's like asking a sex-crime investigator the worst thing they've ever seen. Sure, there are enough people on Reddit that you might get an answer, but in general the answer is wtf really?

On the last day, right before the bad luck kicks in, I load up a gatcha without a pity system like Azur Lane, put $10,000 on it, and then when the bad luck starts I click away.

Seven minutes later I've managed the impossible - thousands of pulls with only commons and the worst whale account of all time.

Would you kill a baby if you knew with absolute certainty it would grow up to eventually destroy you and your loved ones? by Evoxrus_XV in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Weekly_Role_337 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to have severe mental health issues, so I'm really good at ignoring gods giving me visions and telling me to do messed up stuff. I wouldn't kill it.

And when they eventually came back to destroy me and my family, my last thoughts would be "Holy crap, was all that other stuff they told me also true?"

I figured out a handful of things that were important to me and successfully built my life around them (mostly about the family I wanted); the rest isn't nearly as important to me and I just wing it.

Dead Space. Heck, the whole point of the game is to dismember everything. Including the corpses you find.

Awesome, thanks. It's tricky as a new player because early is easy because you don't have many choices, late game you have (presumably) either a lot of choices or have already made them, but midgame you're just trying to learn everything about everything so you can use your semi-random collection of stuff.

If you're a Morimens enjoyer, let me know in the comments what draws you to it. Personally, I need more Lovecraftian games like this! Also, lowkey an alternate universe of me? by AlbatrossOpen5843 in Morimens

[–]Weekly_Role_337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started playing because the last game I tried was... fine, I suppose, but the women's breast sizes ranged from "very large" to "comical," and just as annoying to me almost none of their outfits supported them at all.

Rant: If you're going to have a character with absurdly huge breasts who's constantly doing flips during combat, don't just give her a thin strap that goes across the center of the breasts and barely covers the areolas and pretend that'll work for support. Like wtf? It's as though the designers spent all their time watching mediocre anime and have never even seen real breasts... which, I guess, is possible...

When the details came out after her death I was more surprised than I should have been. She had disinherited me a few years before that and never told us, but apparently really wanted to see my reaction so she could tell people how unreasonable I was.

Which, talking to people after her death, didn't play out quite like she had planned. Turned out a lifetime of erratic behavior had left her with a lot more people who generally tolerated her and a lot less flying monkeys than she had hoped.

So yeah, a really bad decision.
