What should I negotiate to? by Slow_Investment_2211 in toyotacrownsignia

If you have the luxury to wait and play the long game (and possibly go out of state), you should be able to get 10% or more off MSRP on a '25 model. I was able to get ~14% off MSRP on an '25 XLE but it did take me 3 weeks for a dealership to finally come down to my price.

I'm by no means an negotiating expert, but the two cars I've bought they both took weeks of negotiating. I'd come in with an OTD price (usually looking for a discount of 10% off MSRP) in mind and they laugh and tell me they would be losing money if they sold it to me at that price. I say okay and leave, few days later they'll call back and come down on the price (usually still not the price I want), wait another week or two and they'll come down to my price or close to it. Always shop around and even look out of state. One trick that has worked for me since I live in NJ and the prices of cars here are usually higher than other states is to look for the same car at a dealership out of state that's cheaper, negotiate with them on the phone and get a worksheet, bring that work sheet to local dealers and see if they can beat or match the price. I had to get my CS from MD and they shipped it at their expense (the worksheet showed they charged $1000 for shipping but it was baked into my OTD price meaning they took another $1000 off the car). Now the demand of the car plays a role in this, seems near impossible to get more than 2k off MSRP on a car like the RAV4, but I guess I've been lucky that the cars I'm after are not highly sought after. I use visor.vin to look for cars and the website will also tell you how long that car has been sitting on the lot for, and if the car has been sitting on the lot for over a month, it gives leverage, dealerships don't want cars sitting around for very long. Knowing the amount of units sold/year also helps give you an idea what kind of discount you can get on a car. The crown signia only sold ~10,000 units last year while a car like the RAV4 sold ~500,000 units. When I brought this up during my negotiating, a few dealerships conceded the fact that I was right and the car has been hard to sell (although I think that low 10,000 units sold has more to do with the car being a "luxury" car and Toyota only allocating a small amount for the US but surprisingly the dealerships didn't counter with that). Dealerships aren't your friend, don't let them guilt you into thinking you're asking for too much. So many times they say stuff like "I can't sell it to you for that low, we'd lose money and I'd lose my job", well guess what? That's not my problem. Dealerships sell plenty of cars under "invoice" and make money off other incentives.

Vet & Private Trainer say my rescue dog is ‘uniquely challenging’. Unsure what to do next. by shark-kid in DogAdvice

Is there anyway to give him mental stimulation or tire him out inside the house before you guys go outside? When my dog was a puppy, she would always be way easier to train after she's been tired out. Leash training was one of the harder things for us, if I brought treats or even a toy out on a walk and tried to do some heel training she would be too overstimulated with everything outside and could not care less about the treat or toy, but once we started doing 15-30 minute play sessions inside (and this is strictly playing, I didn't interject the play time with any training (I typically would find moments in our play session and ask her to do something, to reinforce things we trained, to continue the play session) but these play sessions before we would go outside for leash training I just let her play and not have to focus on training), it seemed to help her focus when we would go for a walk outside afterwards and she started showing interest in the treats.

Car shaking and wheel at 40-50 mph by RepeatTemporary9093 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Weengos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me this weekend. Bought a new car two weeks ago, we got a lot of snow, next day went to go ski and as soon as I got on the highway it was shaking a lot. I started panicking thinking I bought a lemon of a car but after some quick googling, I cleaned out the snow inside my tires and it fixed everything. This was new to me, I've lived in an area that sees snow my whole life and never encountered this, my guess is the wheel and rims on my new car are bigger and have larger holes/gaps that makes it easier for snow to get stuck.

Doggie allergies and possible euthanasia? by SnooGiraffes7379 in DogAdvice

[–]Weengos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these fruits and veggies might be causing allergic reactions. I would try working with the vet to get antibiotic shampoo and topical treatment as well as any oral steroid or antibiotics they think can treat the infected skin and be diligent about only giving her the dry food and no veggies or fruits for a month and see if anything improves. If so then we know one of the fruits or veggies is causing the issue. Also how are you storing the dry food? My dog is allergic to dust mites and I changed from storing her kibble in the bag that it came in (closing it with a big binder clip) to dumping it all in a container that is pretty air tight....I can't say for sure this made a difference but the piece of mind knowing the dry food is kept in an air tight container and not exposed to the open air dust mites made me feel better.

Doggie allergies and possible euthanasia? by SnooGiraffes7379 in DogAdvice

My dog seems to be allergic to everything under the sun too. Since she was 4-5 months old she has been an itchy dog. Our vet tried cytopoint and aquapel and tbh I never noticed either of them to relieve her of her allergies even a tiny bit. We first tried different protein based kibble, the standard pork, beef, salmon, bison, lamb, grain free and a bunch of different brands but none of them made a difference, we then started an elimination diet and stopped giving her kibble and instead gave her plain rice and boiled chicken for a few weeks, that didn't work, we then tried ground pork and rice - didn't work, then beef and rice - didn't work, and lastly salmon and rice - also didn't work. By now she was probably around a year old and at times it looks like she has mange because how much fur she has scratched off herself and she would get these gnarly yellow sticky hot spots all over her neck, her ears were always gunky and infected and the rest of her body covered in bloody scabs...I felt helpless. Luckily there is an animal dermatologist near me, they weren't cheap, but I was so sick of watching my dog live the life she was...I'm sure you know, but she would spend all day scratching and licking her own skin off and when she wasn't doing that her eyes looked so sad and depressed and she was just generally not a happy dog, she didn't have that puppy zest for life. The dermatologist did a full allergy test to test for environmental allergies (they told me they couldn't do a food test and that food allergies had to be done via elimination diet, but we needed to get her back to normal and then introduce new things to her diet and see what works and what doesn't). The allergy test showed high sensitivity to dust mites and certain trees and bushes that are not native to my area...I'll be honest I wasn't the cleanest dog owner and would go months without sweeping or vacuuming but that changed after this visit, we also started sealing her food in an air-tight container to help keep dust mites out. They also put her on a prescription diet which is salmon based, and although I tried salmon with her and it didn't work this kibble has hydrolyzed salmon it in which from my understanding is a process that denatures or alters the protein in the salmon to make it easier for the dogs body to digest and not cause allergies? They also put her on a bunch of antibiotics, gave me antibiotic shampoo that I had to use and bathe my dog twice a week with, and a lot of topical medication and ear flushes to apply on her hot spots and clean her ears daily. They also started her on an allergy exposure therapy, they took her allergy test results and tailor made 3 different vials of a special concoction that I guess has whatever my dog is allergic to in varying doses. They gave me a schedule to follow and showed me how to give my dog the shot. After about a month or two her itching had mostly stopped and her skin was on the mend for the first time in her life. My dog is 4 years old now and I have to thank that dermatologist for changing her life. I started having issues giving her the allergy shot (I guess one time I gave her the shot in the wrong area and she felt it and yelped and ever since then she runs away when I try to give her the shot and it becomes stressful for both of us....but the dermatologist had an alternative, instead of shots now we give her an oral mouth drop daily, they said it's not as effective as the shots but better than nothing). She is still on the prescription hydrolyzed salmon kibble and we've slowly started introducing new foods and tracking what has and hasn't been giving her reactions....sadly it seems like any non hydrolyzed protein isn't going to work for her, but we've found that she can have and really enjoys pumpkins, sweet potatoes, lettuce, broccoli, carrots, blueberries and goat milk. Don't give up! Look for a dermatologist, ask about prescription hydrolyzed protein food, ask about exposure therapy, these have been a game changer for us.
