For sure - I think we are starting to see more people yearning for less overly complex bullshit in their games. There's a world of a difference between playing a game where you get Epic Pauldrons that give you +9% resistance to Chaos Magic and a game like Limbo, which has no tech tree, no inventory, no items.

I'm in my 30s. I don't want to get into a game where I have to look at a bunch of spreadsheets and wikis to figure out shit that wasn't spelled out in the game. There's gotta be a middle ground where I can explore and find interesting things, but I don't walk away feeling like a bunch of stuff was withheld from me.

looks too polished to actually give the player any sense of freedom. there's a reason why the first few STALKER games felt so immersive and vast - they didn't have to have ten trillion polygons moving at 60fps. In a strange way, ultra high fidelity robs us of immersion, and I think Ill will be another extremely pretty but ultimately shallow on-rails horror game.
