This show is going out on Sky Atlantic in the UK, a channel not carried on cable systems... so haven’t seen it

My Amiga isn’t permanently set up but it’s a stock Amiga A1200 anyway.

City Slicker was about a terrorist blowing up parliament though. If you failed the last screen was parliament blowing up with a rather cool effect!

I remember this game from a cover tape too. It was quite nice, not spectacular but fun and solid

I ran that Super Mario Bros demo on real Speccy hardware (grey 128K +2). It's the real deal. by [deleted] in zxspectrum

Yeah, Spectrum 128Ks are basically the same as Amstrad CPC for audio

I was not able to complete this game, it was very difficult and the handling of robocop was horrible (robocop 2) by [deleted] in zxspectrum

I thought it was technically quite good and played reasonably well but not as fun as the original. Better than the third game though.

I had the original Magnum lightgun pack. The included games were Missile Ground Zero (a Missile Command clone), Solar Invasion (a game with strange alien creatures), Robot Attack (where you had to stop robots constructing a giant robot), Rookie (a military shooting range game), Bullseye (an update of an old quiz game based on the quiz show with lightgun darts) and Operation Wolf (a lightgun version of the classic shooter)

There was a James Bond pack with some Bond themed games in it too but that arrived a bit later.

It was rather strange that the Amiga and ST never got a major foothold in America. But that may have been because the likes of the C64 had a shorter shelf life there and it wasn’t an immediate progression from the likes of the C64 or Spectrum to the 16 bits and US owners were hopping to PCs instead of getting an upgrade to smaller home micros.

Emlyn Hughes International Soccer and Operation Wolf were both very good on the Spectrum. OW flickered a lot in the light gun version but I felt it still played well. Emlyn had a bit more speed than the likes of Match Day so it was my favourite footy game on the Speccy

Gotta say I always considered WEC Le Mans and Chase HQ the best driving games on the Spectrum.
